Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Demo

star-wars-force-unleashed-ps3-coverI downloaded the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed demo the other day from the Playstation Network as I’ve been quite intrigued to see this game in action. Although it’s not a huge demo, I was really impressed from what I played.

I haven’t played Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on any other platform, apparently the Wii version is awesome, but I’ve not heard anything about the XBox 360 version yet.

The story takes place between episodes III and IV and revolves around Darth Vader’s secret apprentice doing missions for him. When I played it for the first time, I was thinking, “Huh! The secret apprentice kinda looks like Crashdown off Battlestar Galactica”, turns out it is! He’s voiced the character and they’ve modelled the character on him.

The controls for ‘The Force Unleashed’ are really nice and easy use from what the demo provides. The way that you can use the force to lift up enemies and then use the analog sticks to move them around and tease them before launching them across the screen either into a wall, Tie-Fighter or just drop them off a platform into the abyss of the StarShip is great fun!!

You can throw boxes into groups of enemies and watch them tumble like skittles or watch them try and flee from you before you mow them down with your lightsaber. Then there are the dark sides’ lighting bolts that you can shoot out of your hands or use in a combo with your lightsaber. Or if you fancy something different, why not use the force push to knock them for six!

There were only a few moves available with it being a demo, but there’s still enough to keep you going through the demo to have fun with your lightsaber and powers.

The only thing I have to think of now is whether to buy Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for the Playstation 3 or the Wii. I loved the demo on PS3 and the graphics are awesome, but then there’s the Wii version. Do I prefer lesser graphics but more involvement in the gameplay and jump around my room pretending to wield a lightsaber?

Either way, the dark side is fun!

I hope that this game eventually comes out on the PC as it does look very cool and the idea of doing secret missions for Darth Vader which tie into the Star Wars history is really good.

Plus, throw in the option to use keyboard/mouse controls, then it would be great fun to play - I have certain issues with game controllers - just see my recent post about GTA4 on the PC!
