‘Sony PSP Go’ Announced
The “Sony PSP Go” has just been announced!…Ok…Right…Well in my opinion, this is just getting ridiculous! How many versions of the Sony PSP are they going to release? Is this the Sony PSP 2 rumour that has previously been mentioned?
The PSP-3000 has not long been released and those at E3 2009 are going to be getting their hands on the PSP Go. What’s different I hear you ask? Well, it seems quite a bit…
It does look quite nice and in my opinion, better than the bulkier PSP-3000 and the 2 other previous models. The PSP Go will be smaller than the PSP-3000, slide the screen up and the buttons will be underneath as seen in the image above.
The screen size is smaller than the PSP-3000’s 4.3 inch screen, at 3.8 inches. So not a massive difference, but still smaller, but it’s 44 percent lighter. It’s Bluetooth compatible so you can use a Bluetooth headset and link it with your mobile phone.
The ‘good’ thing about the PSP Go is that there is no battery sucking UMD Drive and there’s no memory stick slot as it has a 16GB flash memory built in. The bad thing about exclusion of the UMD Drive is that obviously if you want to play the older games on UMD, then you’re going to have to own an older version.
Sony has said that the PSP Go is not a replacement for the PSP-3000 as both units will work together side by side, which presumably rules out it being the Sony PSP 2?
There are going to be both downloadable games and retail games available for the PSP Go, but how big are the file sizes going to be? Over time, there might be smaller games released on the PSP Go, so could this possibly end the bigger titles for the PSP? Apparently not, as there’s going to be new Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo games that are PSP exclusives.
I have the original PSP, but is it worth me investing in the PSP Go? Apparently Sony “like 10 year cycles” but they should look at how many PSP’s are out there. Hopefully the PSP Go will be the last for 10 years.
What do you think to this announcement? Are you sick of Sony releasing so many PSP’s? Love it? Hate it? Let us know.
Take a look at these size comparison images of the Sony PSP Go to the Sony PSP 3000, iPhone 3G and Nintendo DSi. Which of these mobile gaming platforms would you prefer to play on?

I’ve still got an original PSP as I’ve never had much cause to upgrade it plus the games have quite lackluster recently so I’ve hadn’t spent much time with it. I now use my iPhone way more for gaming.
I also have a DS and the last game I bought for it was GTA: Chinatown Wars which was superb.
I think the PSP is great but it needs a lot more better games.

Shall we take bets on what will be intrinsically wrong with it?
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting 3 years for Sony to put the analogue stick in the centre of the device. After all, that makes it much easier to hold..
