Very good point Darren, I think there's always been a certain amount of premium pricing involved when it comes to Sony products - don't get me wrong, I've always been happy with the performance and reliabililty of the Sony products I've bought, but I do sometimes wonder how much extra I'm paying for the name - I suppose it would be a similar thing if Apple were to make a netbook - it would be more expensive because of the whole image and prestige of owning it and buying into the 'Apple lifestyle'.

I'm in the middle of writing a review of the Dell Mini netbook (to be published soon) and I think I'd perhaps rather spend money on that and save the £400 premium you'd be paying for the Sony? Although, that said, the Sony does look like a very cool item to own!

No, I think I would not spend this kind of amount for this netbook. I prefer Asus laptop than Sony's. Although the Vaio series are nice but I haven't heard many consumer reviews for this yet. Maybe I might consider buying this Sony netbook once it's durability has been proven.

I think your paying £400 for the name more than anything. There's a lot of consumers who I think buy their products because you get value for money, but there laptops from my experience have been less than desirable.

I was going to buy a netbook at Christmas, but opted for a Toshiba laptop instead, not much more money and tons more features.
