Sony has announced an official release date for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (or the Playstation Phone), which will be hitting UK stores from 31st March 2011.
When the Xperia Play is released it will come pre-installed with six games which will include Tetris, The Sims 3, Fifa 10, Bruce Lee Dragon Warriors, Star Battalion and the PSone classic Crash Bandicoot. All the games listed will be Android titles as the phone will run off Google’s Android OS, and as well as the six game listed above, there will be another 50 games that will be available from the Playstation Suite.
Not all of the 50 titles will be available on release, but they won’t be far behind the Xperia Plays release date for you to buy.
As well as the PSone game Crash Bandicoot, there will be other PSone titles that are going to be available for the phone but there’s no details on exactly what games are going to be released as of yet.
From what I’ve read of the Sony Xperia Play to date I’m intrigued to see how well it will perform and whether this will challenge the Apple iPhone 4 in anyway. My contract is almost up and I’ll be able to get a new phone so I think this may well be a possibility for my new gadget.
What are your thoughts on Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play? Do you think it will be inferior to the iPhone in every way or do you think it could really challenge Apple’s monster? Whatever your thoughts, let us know in the comments below.
