Share Spotify Playlists With ShareMyPlaylists.com

share-my-playlists-logoListening to free music online has now become really popular thanks to Spotify and the service has many benefits, including now having a Spotify iPhone app to listen to your music on the move. You can search for songs and artists that you’re a fan of and add that music to your playlist; however, there is one limiting factor I’ve found and that is actually how you find new music or add large numbers of songs at a time that you like.

Thankfully there is an answer to just this problem in the form of Spotify allowing you to export your playlists as a URL to share with other people, combined with a specific website that has been set up to make it easier for you to do just that – ShareMyPlaylists.com!

ShareMyPlaylists.com put simply is a website that allows people to share their favourite music playlists with other like-minded people, however since the 2.0 version of the site went live in July, it becomes much more of a music-based social network where music fans can connect with other like-minded people with similar musical interests. Some of the new features now include the following:

Playlists – members can store and edit playlists, submit artwork, as well as being able to create a favourites list based from the playlists of other members.

Blogs – all registered users can have their very own blog on the site, which allows fans, bands and organisations the option to share not only their music playlists, but also their thoughts and opinions on music, but without the need to know the technical stuff of how to set up a whole website themselves.

Friends – members can send friend requests to connect with other similar music fans and build up a network of friends. You can then communicate with each other using the site’s “Wire” system where you can send messages including a private internal email-style system.

Activity Stream – once you’ve got a network of friends on ShareMyPlaylists.com, this is where you can then see what your friends are doing on the site, be it new playlists, comments, wire messages – somewhat like your Twitter stream or Facebook news feed, but only related to people who like the same kinds of music that you like!

ShareMyPlaylists.com was set up in March 2009 and has seen a huge rise in popularity (much like Spotify itself) and now has around 8000 members and 7000 different playlists for you sample – there’s even been some big music names themselves such as Will Young, The Saturdays, Gary Go and Remi Nicole submitting their own playlists to the site.

If you’re a current Spotify user, what are you waiting for? Head on over to ShareMyPlaylists.com right now and find some great new music and connect with like-minded people. However, if you’ve not yet had chance to try this great new free music service then you should read about the latest news about needing a Spotify invite to register for an account, luckily ShareMyPlaylists have plenty of invites, so hopefully can get started from there.

Overall, be sure to check out both of these great free services, Spotify and ShareMyPlaylists.com today should go hand in hand for any music fan – it just makes sense!

Just been playing around on this today, there’s some great stuff on there. Spotify is a real winner for finding new music like this, but you need to really find some decent people to follow.

Glad you’ve found it useful, I know I have since I started using it a few months ago and have found some really cool playlists – especially good as I would never have the time to create my own specific types of playlist – normally all my music ends up on one totally random playlist! :)
