Sega Rally Demo Released
The demo of the new Sega Rally game has been released on Xbox Live Marketplace in the form of a 691MB download. The demo includes the following features to choose from:
- 2 Tracks - one Tropical and one Canyon
- 2 Cars - Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
I’ve already downloaded it and had another go on it - you might remember I attended a Sega Preview Session of Sega Rally last month. It compares very well to the game I played and the main noticeable difference from the test version I played would be the AI level of the other cars - we couldn’t get anywhere near the top two cars in our preview session! Whereas I won on both courses on my second attempt (on my first attempts I was obviously getting used to driving with my controller
), presumably there will be a variety of difficulty options available in the full game.
Having played exclusively on a top of the range steering wheel and pedals set up at Sega, I had slight concerns about how the game would play on a standard Xbox controller, however I can now confirm that this is not an issue at all even for someone like me who over the years have been more at home playing PC games - the controls for the Xbox controller feels very natural and instinctive.
Overall, I would say that this is shaping up to be a great arcade-style racer and am looking forward to playing the full game!
One of the big gaming sites have already published a very favourable 9/10 review of it - Eurogamer. You can get your order in for the release of the game on the 28th September on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC from Amazon using the following links:
