scentscape_usb_deviceHave you ever been sat there, playing your games and thinking to yourself, “I really wish I could smell what it was like in that dungeon/swamp/blood stained pit”. Well all your dreams have just come true.

A new USB accessory is going to be released for PC and consoles later this year which will allow gamers to smell games like World of Warcraft. It will be called ScentScape and will contain 20 scent wells that will spray out different aromas up your nostrils like Ocean, Forest, Smoke….let’s just hope the smoke smell isn’t actually the ScentScape burning out!! The game will prompt the device to spit out the correct smells when in the right enviroment.

No games have been officially announced yet, but from the image is looks like World of Warcraft will be one of them. Maybe you’ll get a distinct Leeroy Jenkins smell added which will smell like pure masculine courage – click through on the link and watch the video and you’ll see what I mean. I don’t even play WOW and I’ve still seen it!

ScentScape is also compatible with films, which will definitely add another dimension to movies and possibly make some home cinema kits with 3DTV technology feel more like 4DTV! The device is priced at $70 with each cartridge costing around $24.

So do you think you’ll be adding a ScentScape device to your gaming/movie kit? Or can you smell something fishy going on? (oh look…a tumbleweed). Whatever your thoughts, follow your nose to the comments below.
