RSS Explained in Steps

RSS explained in steps? What is this RSS subscription thing? Why should I subscribe? What’s in it for you? Right well here’s the explanation in plain English!

After having been blogging here now for around 2 months with that big orange symbol sitting over there on the right hand side of the site, I did think that an explanation was well over due, so here it is:

“It’s essentially a way for you to receive new updates from websites all in one place, much like you receive your emails from all your friends in one place, thus saving you a lot of wasted time from when you regularly visit your favourite sites only to find they haven’t changed since the last time you visited.”

Take a look at the following video which explains it much better than I ever could.

There are two types of Internet users, those that use RSS and those that don’t. This video is for the people who could save time using RSS, but don’t know where to start.

I think anything that helps to explain the benefits of a new technology to people is always, especially in this case where it does make checking websites so much more convenient!
