Project Natal Release Date Update?

We all knew that Microsoft’s Project Natal; the Xbox 360 motion controller would be released before the end of 2010, but we never knew exactly when. Well there’s rumours going around that we could be seeing Natal released in October of this year, just in time for the Christmas rush.
Someone called Syed Bilal Tariq who works on behalf of a Microsoft subsidiary in Saudi Arabia said that Natal’s release…
“is going to be somewhere in October and we will be in a position to confirm the date at E3, which is in June, but definitely it is going to be October 2010.”
But Microsoft were quick to reply to that comment saying that Syed was a vendor employed through a third party. There wasn’t anything saying that he’d got the release date wrong though. This is an update from the rumoured Project Natal release date of November 2010, the Microsoft guys then gave a more unspecific timeframe of the American Holiday season 2010 at the Microsoft CES 2010 press event, but whichever is correct it’s clear that we’ll be seeing it around October/November in time for the Christmas shopping period.
If we do see it in October I wonder whether this is partly due to Project Natal now being software-based (rather than having its own processing hardware) making it easier to manufacture? Or perhaps they just want to try to get the Xbox 360 motion controller out before the Playstation Move; Sony’s PS3 motion controller.
Either way, I’m sure we’ll be getting a definite answer at E3 this year and you’ll be able to get daily information from Zath as we have a member of the team reporting from the US of A for the first time. So stay tuned to find out the official release date from Microsoft of Project Natal. I for one can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Are you excited by Project Natal or do you think Microsoft are hyping it up too much and it will be a giant flop? Let us know in the comments below.
