Playstation Home Released!

It’s finally here. Playstation Home is released to the Playstation 3 ‘world’ as of 11th December 2008. I’m writing this at 23:05 on 10th December 2008 (or am I writing this from the future of 2009? Anyway……..) and hoping it will appear at midnight, but knowing my luck it won’t and I’ll have to work until getting ‘home’ from work to delve into…Home. Also the possibility that this is the US release date, but I hope it isn’t and it is worldwide!

Home is the new free online community where you can create your own avatar, and apartment and mingle with folks from around the world. Share game tactics, have a heart to heart conversion, no doubt someone will get married over it in due course and create their own basement cupboard to live in.

However, you will have to use real money if you want to spruce up your apartment and hopefully it’ll be peanuts to do so, but Sony have made deals with furniture designer Ligne Roset and designers Diesel, so when you buy stuff, it’s virtually fashionable (depending on your tastes). But you can play games, watch films, have a chat, almost anything with anyone you see.

I can’t wait to get my hands on this and see if it matches up to the hype. I’ve had 2 friends who managed to get themselves an invitation to the closed BETA which made me very jealous and they seemed really impressed with it. I’m really looking forward to the themed virtual environments which in North America, will start with Uncharted, Resistance, Guitar Hero and a few others too.

So prepare to have no real life social skills anymore and becoming a virtual….whatever you want to become.

The fact is Playstation Home is here and could be the start of something really impressive on the PS3.

Stay tuned for a small review on my Playstation Home opinions once I’ve broke it in, and maybe we can start up a Zath community for those of us with PS3’s!
