Play TV (PS3)

play-tv-logoSony has recently announced a price and release date for ‘Play TV’.

Play TV is a digital receiver that enables you to watch Freeview through your PS3 and use it as a recorder as well. So you can watch one program and record another or record two programmes at once. All of your recordings will be saved on the PS3’s hard drive so you’ll be able to watch them back whenever you like.

All you need to do is plug your aerial into the TV tuner provided, and then plug into your PS3 using the USB connections and you’re away. You can also transfer saved programmes from your PS3 HDD to you PSP to watch TV on the go.

The only downside to this is that there are no HD channels available, which is a bit annoying seeing as though it uses HDMI.

For more information about Sony’s new PS3 accessory, visit the Play TV site, which includes a list of the TV channels available.

I’m a big fan of these new TV entertainment streams that are opening up for us as an alternative to the traditional TV option.

The ultimate TV solution for me would be Tivo returning to the UK market with a high definition option!
