New Xbox 360 and Another New PS3 Slim? (Rumour)

new-ps3-slim-and-xbox-360-250gbI was expecting this news, but maybe not so soon.

Sony’s PS3 Slim is only just over 2 weeks old (as of 1st September) and there are already rumours that Sony are going to be releasing a new 250GB model of the PS3 Slim by October.

Microsoft have followed suit by announcing that they will be releasing a 250GB version of the Elite console bundled with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The 360 will be themed like the Resident Evil 5 red Xbox 360 that was previously released. It will also come with 2 wireless controllers, a headset (the most annoying peripheral on the planet) and the standard version of Modern Warfare 2.

There’s no price outside of the States yet, but across the pond, you’ll be able to pick up the bundle for $399 so it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s priced at around £350 over here in the UK.

I’m thinking of purchasing an Xbox 360 myself, and I don’t think I’ll be in any rush to get the new version with 250GB hard drive. I’d be quite happy with the normal 120GB version of the Elite.

I don’t know why I’m surprised because this kind of thing happened not so long after Sony released the new PS3 80GB last year when they then announced the a PS3 160GB a month later.

What do you think? Pretty much the norm and you’re not surprised? Or are you going to hold off and get a bigger hard drive? Will you be able to make use of it? Do you think Sony and Microsoft will be trying vut out the middle-man and sell full downloadable games via their online services in the near future? Let us know what you think!
