New Tomb Raider Game – Download Only
Written by Ender on March 4, 2010 · Filed under Games
A brand new Tomb Raider is on its way which is to be called ‘Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light’.
Crystal Dynamics who have been responsible for the last three Tomb Raider outings which include the only next gen Tomb Raider, ‘Tomb Raider Underworld’ are set to make the next instalment in the popular franchise starring Lara Croft.
However this time around, Lara Croft is going to be turning up as a digital download-only game title sometime this year. There’s no word on which console(s) this will appear on, but my bet is it will appear on both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 with the possibility of a PC release and maybe even as a WiiWare game.
Apparently Lara’s next big adventure will be “…something completely new and very different…” according to Crystal Dynamics general manager Darrell Gallagher.
I have to admit, I still haven’t played Tomb Raider Underworld and need to get my hands on it, but I loved ‘Legend’ and ‘The Anniversary’ additions to Tomb Raider, so I am quite looking forward to seeing what they come up with for the next instalment.
Because it’s a download-only title, will this mean that we’re to get the game in chapters which will tell the story over time as with the latest Tales of Monkey Island and Alien Breed: Evolution games? Well we’ll find out next week I’m sure, as ‘Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light’ will be shown off at GDC in San Francisco next week.
Excited by the news that Lara Croft is returning? Let us know below.
