Motorstorm Review (PS3)
Start your engines to one of the dark horses of the Playstation 3’s release titles.
I could not believe how good and addictive this Motorstorm is. I got this with a package as I didn’t think there were any other games better looking and thought it would be ok for a couple of hours or so.
A year down the line and I still love this game. Motorstorm is off road racing at its best and now it’s back as one of the PS3 Platinum games.
I’m not really one for racing games as I find them very repetitive and get boring very quickly, but this is just pure chaos on dirt tracks and lots of exploding cars and bodies flying everywhere and I love it.
There are 7 different types of vehicles: Bikes, ATV’s, Buggies, Rally Cars, Racing Trucks, Mudpluggers and Big Rigs!!
The great thing is, is that you don’t just race vehicles of the same category, all 7 can be involved in the same race. So if you’re on a bike or ATV, watch out for the Big Rigs coming up behind you or you’ll be mown down and become part of the cliff face!
There are 8 different tracks that come with the game, but you can download extra content from the Playstation Network which includes extra tracks and extra vehicles to make the game last even longer. All the tracks are set in around the Grand Canyon which is great to look at when you’re driving, but make sure that you keep your eyes on the road!
Don’t think that you’ll win a race by choosing a certain vehicle, because it all depends on which course you take through the tracks. If you’re in a light vehicle and take the low roads through the mud then you’ll just get stuck and go at a snails pace. So head to the high roads, but be careful how fast you go round the corners or you could be soaring through the air off the edge of a very tall cliff.

The tracks never stay the same, as vehicles tear the track apart and leave trails in the mud which can cause you to slide more and could have you smashing into the side of a rock and blowing up if you’re not careful.
It’s great how crazy this game can get. You can be flying through the valleys and all of a sudden, you’ll see an explosion on the path above you and a body flying through the air and landing on the hood of your car and bouncing off like a rag doll, or a Big Rig exploding and its mangled carcass flying over your car in a ball of flames.
There is an awesome soundtrack to, which really adds to the game and makes you want to drive the extra bit faster. It’s just a shame that you can’t play your own music over the top, but I’m sure that Motorstorm 2 will allow you to do this.
If you like racing games, then buying a cheap Motorstorm (PS3 Platinum) is a must. If you don’t like racing games, this is a must!!
The only down side to it is that there is no multiplayer option so you can’t have your mates round for a massive battle. You can however go online and race with up to 12 players which is great fun!!
Look out for Motorstorm 2: Pacific Rift which is due for release this November.

I really loved Motorstorm when I first got it, but it’s just too aggravating to me now. Good Lord, the frieking AI! AARRGGHH!! It’s so friggin’ cheap and rubberbandy…ugh, I feel my ulcers coming back already.
That said, it has perhaps the best mayhem ever found in a racing game, and I can’t wait for the sequel…but man did it ever piss me off.

I’d be lying if i said that Motorstorm hasn’t annoyed the hell out of me at times. But it’s still good fun to go back to and cause mayhem after replacing all broken items

This is a great game! I would recommend it to anyone. It has a few great tracks. I sold my PS3 and now have the WII, so I haven’t played it in awhile.
