Monster Job Alert Texts?

I’ve been signed up with the Monster.co.uk for years now, it’s a website where you can find all manner of specific jobs that you tell it that you’re interested in, it then emails you when there are new jobs in the areas that you specified. As well as that, it has a whole host of resources for people looking for jobs and career advice - definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for that kind of information.

Well Monster are now offering notifications of new jobs that they’ve found for you as text alerts - this kind of got me thinking, what kind of jobs or job seekers need such instant news of job vacancies that a text message to their mobile phone would be helpful over a standard email notification? Are jobs being snapped up that quickly? Surely they’d be open for a few days at least?

Now to be honest, I’ve not used the Monster website to a great degree as when I did actively try it out once, I seemed to get pestered by a bunch of agencies clearly trying to get me on the cheap! I wonder if that would be made worse and you’d be bombarded with loads of texts?

Has anyone else used Monster in the past? What are you thoughts on it? Did you find it useful? Do you need to know about job vacancies wherever you are during the day sent to your mobile phone?
