Mobispine - Mobile News Reader
Do you like to check your favourite websites/blogs while out and about with your mobile phone? If you do, then you’ll find that there’s one main problem with checking the individual websites and that is that generally the cost of mobile internet access is expensive.
Your mobile Internet usage is usually charged based upon your data usage and as such anything you can do to minimise this is good!
One way to do this is to use an RSS feed reader such as Google Reader (you can get use the mobile version) or a specific mobile RSS reader such as Mobispine which is a separate Java-based application to install on your mobile.
Mobispine first caught my attention late last year when I found quite a lot of my subscribers were reading new Zath! content through this service. I’ve since tried this out myself on my LG Viewty mobile phone and was really impressed with how well it worked and how data usage it saved when loading up your various RSS feed updates (Mobispine refers to these as bookmarks).
Therefore, if you like to keep up-to-date with your favourite websites and blogs while on the move at a cheap rate, I’d certainly recommend downloading and trying out Mobispine. All you need to do is point your mobile phone’s Internet browser at the following address - get.mobispine.com

Thank for the interesting information…I’m going to check it. Hope this could be cheaper alternative for mobile browsing.

I think that anything that can reduce the data usage on mobile devices has to be a good thing since data usage is awfully expensive, it certainly is on the UK networks if nothing else!
I hope you find it useful Mariah and it works out well for you - I trust you’ll subscribe to Zath! on it too!

This looks great, I’ll be downloading it tonight although I can never quite use up my data allowance most sites still aren’t optimised for the mobile devices including my own so I prefer the feed reader, however my phones feed reader only allows partial feeds so to read the full thing still involves visiting the site (painful) and my google reader has 1000’s of sites now so it would be good to see if I can have something similar on my mobile so i can read them on the move. Does it allow you to create feed categories and store data to your memory card?
Thanks for that.
Gaj - The last time I used Mobispine you couldn’t set up your own categories or store data on a memory card, but that was a little while ago and had to test it on someone else’s mobile since I couldn’t get it to work on my Windows Mobile based handset.
However, I’ve now found another RSS Mobile Reader for Windows Mobile phones called Viigo and will be reviewing that soon.

I’ve nearly finished my review of Viigo and will hopefully be posting that tomorrow.
The LG Secret phone is going well - I’ve nearly got that review finished and will publishing that soon too - I saw your review, it looks good!
Cheers, I tried to use mobispine on it and it give me a file size error however the web version is pretty good.
look forward to your review.

I wonder if that’s an issue with Java? I know I’ve had handsets that even though that they have Java, won’t run Java apps.
However, that’s not an issue with Viigo as it’s not Java-based - Viigo review should be up later today.
