Mirror’s Edge

mirrors-edge-kickI’m writing this about Mirror’s Edge on the day which we’ve seen the release of Call of Duty: World of War, the 5th game in the amazingly popular game franchise and I just can’t wait to get my hands on a copy and wear out the disc.

But….this game, Mirror’s Edge is released today that I feel deserves a special mention as it hasn’t been widely advertised as much as COD 5 and it could turn out to be the best game of the year.

I’d seen the title around here and there, but never paid much attention to it as I’d not seen anything about it. Then the demo became available on the Playstation Network. So I decided to delve into this game and see what it actually was.

It blew me away!

Mirror’s Edge is a first person, free-running game that plays gorgeously. The city environments are amazing and some of the moves that you do feel awesome! It really does make it feel like you’re doing it at times. As for the soundtrack, well, the Japanese always seem to bring out some of the best games, animated films and the soundtracks are no exception. It’s like the purest pearls falling into the purest water.

I don’t really know what else to say with the demo apart from, download it and try it! It really does have to be played for you to grasp just how much potential this game has!

I know most people will want COD 5, but from what I played, I desperately want to add this to my collection and feel that you should too!! If you don’t get it, you’ll definitely be missing out.

Mirror’s Edge is available now on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

I’ve not played it myself, so can’t say for certain, but perhaps it would have been better to control in 3rd person?

That said, I’m sure it’s a lot more involving being in first person view.
