Metroid Prime Hunters

metroid-prime-huntersA first person shooter on the Nintendo DS? My first thoughts were “Small screens + low graphics x no mouse = shockingly bad game”. I should learn to keep my thoughts to myself. After watching some gameplay of Metroid Prime Hunters, I bought this game to check the graphics were as good as they looked. I was astonished at the quality and smoothness this game displays. The environments are a little claustrophobic but the texturing and environment are rich with detail.

The interface is friendly and allows people to easily jump into the action and become a highly trained killing machine within minutes. I was genuinely surprised how quickly the controls became familiar and how engrossed I became within the Metroid Prime Hunters missions. The game is basically a FPS with loads of bots, bits of problem solving and epic boss battles. As you progress through the game items and other goodies are unlocked.

Another triumph for the game is the multi player aspect. This supports single/multi card and Wi-Fi. It offers the standard FPS multi player experience with 4 players, multiple maps and an impressive array of game types (slayer, base defence, juggernaut etc) This again really surprised me as the multi player is smooth, easy to jump into and a lot of fun.

In short Metroid Prime Hunters is a fantastic FPS that really shows off what the Nintendo DS is capable of in single and in multi player and is definitely one of the top games of the Nintendo DS. A very high bench mark for games to follow!
