New Medion Netbook – A Next Generation Netbook?
Whereas Medion have decided to be a little bolder and have labelled their new creation as a “next generation” netbook. Pretty promising, but does it actually live up to that label?
In short – not really! With the exception of the fact that it has an 11.6 inch 1366 x 768 HD screen and ATI Radeon TM Xpress 1250 graphics (and of HDMI out), and the AMD Sempron 210U the Mini E1312 is very much like what we’ve already seen.
Yes, that may sound like a big step forward, but you have to remember that not only is everything else the same as what you would find on current netbooks but you won’t suddenly find that the netbook will run everything under the sun – neither the processor or the graphics are massive steps forward, and compared to something like the Acer N10 the claim that it is the ‘next generation’ seems a little over the top.
So, a little disappointing (although interestingly it will be ‘exclusive to Aldi’, a store hardly known for its technology prowess) and the £400 does put it at the upper end of prices, but I suppose you can’t really complain if it’s something different for a change.
Well that just about wraps up what’s new in the netbook world, and it leaves us not only looking forward to see the success of these two (which should appear at the latter end of the summer), but also the upcoming release of a few of the other related releases coming in this year especially Acer’s Android attempt.
