Make Your Own Music With Microsoft Songsmith!
Microsoft Songsmith has recently been released as a new piece of software from Microsoft’s research branch of software development, perhaps with a view to selling it in future, put simply it will create a musical jingle song based on somebody just singing some lyrics.
It apparently analyses the singing that you play to it and will then create a backing track of music to accompany it based upon various options that you select, such as the musical style, tempo etc.
Now I’m pretty tone-deaf when it comes to music and singing and freely admit this, however I’m fairly sure that this piece of software would not help me in any way whatsoever or perhaps anyone else? But hopefully you find this pretty amusing all the same!
A number of people have now used Microsoft Songsmith to create some amusing new music videos on YouTube which are now “doing the rounds” – As you can see from the videos below, Microsoft Songsmith has been used to recreate several well-known by feeding just the song lyrics into this software to create some rather ‘unique’ versions of the songs. What do you think to these?
Microsoft Songsmith: “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor
Microsoft Songsmith: “Wonderwall” by Oasis

How to kill a song in one single swoop. Ladies & gentlemen, I bring to you; Songsmith.
Great review, but I think this software is going to create a hideous monster in the view of swarms of new MySpace music profiles. Urgh, humour rating; 9/10. Usefulness Zilch!
