LG Viewty Themes

lg-viewty-theme-iphoneIt’s almost a year since I first reviewed the LG Viewty, however I still get asked quite a bit about customising it, specifically in terms of getting new LG Viewty themes, some of which look like the iPhone interface.

The LG Viewty was a great mobile phone when it appeared late last year and it still is good compared to many newer handsets that have been released since, however perhaps you’ve got a little bored with the 3 interface themes that come with the phone, could you do with a change of theme on your LG Viewty?

If that’s the case, then you might be interested to read what I managed to find after doing a little research on this topic, here’s what I found…

There’s a very active community (forums) of LG Viewty owners out there who create and share lots of themes and wallpapers to brighten up your trusty LG mobile phone.

Basically all you need to do is install some specific ‘theme’ software called ‘EFS Theme Builder’ which allows you to replace the standard themes (you can only have 3 themes on your phone at any one time) with a custom one of your choosing. You can get this software by going to this page which tells you “How to install new themes onto the LG KU990 Viewty“.

Once you’ve got that installed, you need to copy across the new theme that you would like to use – there are several that can be found here over at My Great Phone.

You then just select to use that new theme in the usual settings menu and you should then be all sorted to pass your LG Viewty off as an iPhone! – Assuming you chose to use the LG Viewty iPhone theme obviously, but who wouldn’t want to have their mobile phone look like that – I’ve even got a Windows Mobile iPhone Theme on my HTC Tytn II.

*Please note – I’ve not actually had chance to try these themes out for myself since I no longer have an LG Viewty to test this on, so make sure you follow the instructions carefully as I can’t be held responsible if you mess up your mobile phone and need to reset it back to factory defaults – so make sure you back up all your numbers and anything else you need first! ;)

I’m surprised you guys didn’t mention the Motorola Crave as a fierce competitor for this phone.. I’ve been a huge fan of the Krave ever since I started working with Motorola. I especially like the touch screen display and 2 megapixel camera. You can check out the full list of features at motorola.com/krave. It’s definitely worth checking out.

The Motorola Krave is definitely not a competitor with this phone. The Viewty having a great level of customisation, an easy-to-use User Interface and lets not forget the 5 megapixel screen. Oh, I almost forgot the fact that it has a 120 fps camera which can catch events happen not only in real time but in a detailed slow motion setting, and the fact that it isn’t all that expensive makes it an even better phone

That is one way of doing it but ising the ‘EFS media builder’ you can install a flash program called ‘thememanager 3.2′ which overwrites your silver theme and allows an unlimited ammount of themes to be installed.
I have a tutorial on my youtube page. http://www.youtube.com/jordanmoore9

I currently have about 50 themes installed i think.

Will this mess up my phone?
I just got it and I want to put different themes on it, but I don’t want my phone to be glitched or anything. :/
