Ad-Aware Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware Updated

The anti-spyware ‘pioneers’ Lavasoft have been around for a while now, and now they’re back with a new release of the latest version of the flagship software Ad-Aware Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware which promises a host of new features in addition to those that have already proved to be effective and popular.
The additions that have been made are fairly widespread and cover all aspects from the mechanism that the anti-virus and spyware work to increasing the ‘community’ aspect which will allow for greater customisation (with things such as custom skins and community driven translations) and gives the ability to create add-ons and plug-ins through the Ad-Aware public API.
As well as the standard application of preventing, detecting and removing malware this new version of Ad-Aware contains some nice features that make it all the more attractive to potential users:
- Genotype detection technology – this works by finding and thus preventing various new forms of malware that are yet to be released, helping to thwart future attacks.
- Behaviour-based heuristics methodology – this identifies the newest and most relevant types of malware in an attempt to keep your computer clean.
- Lavasoft ThreatWork Alliance – this essentially echos what I mentioned earlier, and forms a global community defense against the latest and most relevant threats which will make the Ad-aware software all the more effective.
- Do Not Disturb Mode – the addition of this mode is what interests me the most, and it is designed to keep interruptions and strain on resources to a minimum to make the playign of games and viewing of media all the more seamless.

It will be available in three different versions each sporting different arrangements of the features: Free, Pro and Plus available in packs of 1,3 or 5 licenses costing £19.99 for the Pro version, £24.99 for the Plus and of course the Free version costs nothing.
So that’s a quick overview of the new Ad-Aware Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware offering from Lavasoft, and although we cannot say at this moment of time how effective they will prove to be, we can say for certain that they give much promise and could set it up as a market leader!
