The market for hard drives, pen drives and more professional storage solutions is a crowded one, to say the least, and while companies, such as SeaGate, lead the way, I always have a soft spot for LaCie simply because of its innovative products, you just need to look at the LaCie Xtremkey rugged USB memory stick!
LaCie constantly defy the norm in terms of design, and I’m a sucker for a quality looking product, so continuing in that tradition, they now bring us the LaCie MosKeyTo USB Memory Stick. One of the smallest USB flash drives on the market.
The MosKeyTo’s biggest selling point of course is the fact that it protrudes only 6mm from your computer when plugged in, making it comparable in size and looks to Logitech’s wireless mouse ‘nano’ receivers, which you may have seen knocking about.
You may think, then, that these will cost you an arm and a leg to get your hands on. Well whilst they may be more expensive than the pen drives the unbranded ones you find at the local supermarket, it’s to be expected and the entry-level 4GB option will set you back £19.99, which is a pretty comparable price when you consider the capacity: physical size ratio’s and the fact that you get an additional 4GB of Wuala online storage.
Aesthetically the drives are obviously small, as I already mentioned, and in addition they sport a sleek black and orange design. The actual drive is connected to a lid, which is bigger than the drive itself, so you can close it up and attach it to your keys or however you wish to transport it.
So, another neat product arrives from a company that has many great designs, whilst I doubt that they will revolutionise the market, the LaCie MosKeyTo USB Memory Stick is certainly a little less generic than the majority of other pen drives you find.
