Jericho Season 3?
Jericho season 3 could still rise from the ashes! CBS may have cancelled Jericho for the second time at the end of the 7 episode long season 2, but that doesn’t mean to say that no other networks or distribution deals can be done!
There are various potential Jericho season 3 deals to be made as IGN recently reported, let’s hope that one of these actually works out!
At this point, any news of Jericho’s demise should be considered exaggerated. Once a show proves that it can rise from the ashes based on fan support – it becomes a unique commodity in television. While Jericho’s audience might not be CSI-sized – they are far from the regular casual viewers. They are dedicated, and they’ll follow the series wherever it goes. Exploiting the value of such an audience is just good business – and it looks like others are starting to figure that out.
The fans are willing to do what it takes to bring the show back from the brink for a second time and this can be seen for example through the efforts that are going on over at Jericho-Kansas.com where they have outlined details of “Save Jericho: The Sequel” which includes addresses for fans to write letters to various networks who may be potential buyers for the series.
Another way to show support for the show would be to pre-order the Jericho Season 2 DVD boxset from Amazon which would also show other networks that there is money to be made from this show!
If Jericho season 3 does happen, it will likely involve us finding out what has been going on in New York City which manage to survive it’s nuclear attack due to it’s increased security following 9/11 – there is also more Jericho season 3 details to read about which just goes to show what direction it would go in.
Do you think Jericho can be brought back again? Surely having less viewers in total can be outweighed by them being more loyal and invested viewers – it must be good for something and a suitable business model can be worked around that asset to make it all viable when it comes down to hard-cash aspect of the show?
UPDATE: As mentioned in the links in the comments below, one way that fans can show support for Jericho season 3 to potential new networks is to get their pre-orders for the Jericho season 2 DVD boxset, it’s priced really well and you’re getting value for money for the 7 episode season and is definitely recommended!

Gwen – No problem at all, anything I can do here to help spread the word I’m more than happy to do as it’s a great show and one worth saving…especially when there is so many mediocre shows re-newed year after year.
Home Shopping – I remember when they did the same thing with those two shows as well as American Gothic, Dark Skies and Crusade – all of which had great potential….if only they weren’t cancelled – over the long term, these kind of shows have the loyal fans that are the ones who buy the DVD boxsets which have to generate lots of money over the long term.

LOL – We had never watched Jericho until we found it on NetFlix.
My mother’s been blabbing about it since the beginning… We thought it sounded boring, but were so wrong. Now we’re hooked and keep watching the mailbox for the next DVD. (We’re still on season one so give us a little time to catch up:-))

Jennifer – it’s curiously compelling! It starts out slow, but you can really get into after the first few episodes – the whole concept entices you in with what direction the show will go and what is happening in the world outside of Jericho.

recently in a game of RISK a friend of mine told me to back out of N. America if I wanted to stay alive, i will give you one guess as to my response, thats right I handed him a piece of paper that all it said on it was “NUTS”. after watching the HBO show on John Adams all I could think about is how much I missed Jericho I am a die hard fan (own season 1 on dvd and have watcher it at least 4 times) and I just want the show back, I dont care how. as long as the new writers dont go insane I love the connections between this show and our country’s revolution, maybe the next season can move to some connections to the revolutionary war which it is obviously going into. Oh man I get worked up just thinking about the possibilities.

i am from the netherlands/holland and i watch the show on the dutch cannels and i hate it when a show stops mid storry the same thin happend with space above , joan of arcadia, firefly and a lot more of the shows we get to see for a bit and then cbs cut off the funding thats stupid. i would like to see atleast one show to its end.

hello all ive never even heard of jericho….well that was untill the other day when i seen it on the shelf in asda and got it and 2 days later i had watched all 22 eps what a show its just my thing, i loved every second of it which is saying something as i dont watch tv never had its boring and live seems like a routen so i play games and watch films and buy series like jericho,,,, so getting to the point last night i finished watching ep 22 “why we fight” and was buzzing that there was a second season woo hoo but found out there is only 7 eps which i haven`t watched yet and will be doing after i finish here (cant fookin wait) but am not happy at all there are only 7 as i watched the first 16 in one day alone and now ive just spent the last 2 hours find out if there was an a season 3 which i still dont know SO CAN SOMEONE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN THE BEST SHOW IVE EVER WATCHED WILL BE COMING TO A SEASON 3 AS I WANT THIS SHOW TO NEVER END………it seems harsh when uve got shows like lost and dont even get me started with that show that contidicts its self season after season and still keeps u wondering WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON, why, what is that, why is he, what is he, and why are they still airing that crap when they keep cancelling jericho and its just boss the story line is boss the ppl play great parts the actors are great and at the end of every ep is i need to watch the next one (which i wont be able to do after so2 ep 07 ) and so on so if any one knows whats happening will there be please post here and let me know i need to know finger crossed ppl may jericho live on for a long time to come

The people at CBS must be brain dead! Fortunately, there are networks whose executives are endowed with intelligence and foresight such as Fox, USA, Sci-Fi and occasionally TNT. If one of them would bring back “Jericho,” they would be assured of airing a major hit. This seems to be just one more example of why network television (with the exception of Fox) has lost it’s edge in the marketplace.

Time to think about the politics of this. The network (CBS, Ultra liberal, OUR (left wing) truth in reporting network) can’t afford to run a show during an election year that shows a good old fashioned, middle American town, with all the old fashioned, true American values, (not to mention WWII, Vietnam, and current military veterans) fighting back, against the New , win by any means, all manipulative, all taxing, super Government.

Please tell me there is a season three! I’ ve been searching for season three episodes but haven’t found any. If there is a seaon three who would be promoting it? This is a very unique show and I can’t understand why it would be cancelled espcially when there are so many weak prime time shows to compete with it.

what is wrong with the tv execs.? You have shows like hereos that are plain fantasy show …..where as jerichco can give you a clue or inform you what to do should this mess would really happen….(for people who havn’t watch the news lately)….or what to maybe expect …
I like hereos also…but it’s not teaching me anything but to daydream and fantasy living….atleast jericho taught you real things along the way….what a disapointment…..what the hell big tv?????????

i liv in Uganda though here we dont get to view those series as new as you guys see them on Tv, but tell yu what….its agreat show. here these vendors can cut a full season into two parts, so in terms of Uganda, i will speak i’ve watched sseason 1 part 1 and season one part 2….but i still seat back and keep watching the show. me and my son know most of the lines…its great more than 24….its very realistic as far as today’s world is concerned…it also teaches how to be hospitable,social and helpful for the greater good….so much can be said..but why dont those guys of CBS re air the show, i liked LOST but also got lost even when i could rewatch the episodes, come on guys……we need that show.

Has anyone ever asked themselves……
Why it was cancelled?? I highly doubt it was for low ratings, this is the best show EVER… even better than Prison Break (and I’m a die hard fan so that is difficult for me to admit!)
It would not surprise me if it was decided that this is not the kind of inspiration out leaders truely want our citizens to have… Governments get highly leary of anything that could possibly promote revolution as a good thing, and given the current state of our country….
Jericho could one day be all to real and FAR less glamorous.
I don’t see them bringing back Jericho, even though it is the BEST!

I been watching this show on netflix with my wife. It is something we actually enjoy doing together. Without it my marriage may not make it j/k.. Jericho is really entertaining. Me and a lot of my buddies in the marines watch it all the time. With as many people I know who watch it, someone needs to support the show and bring it back. Netflix has pretty much got my membership because of Jericho. SO BRING IT BACK!!!

I also have been watching this show on netflix. I started with the free trial and after watching the first 8 episodes of season 1, I have to say, it is an instant favorite of mine. The netflix membership was well worth it simply for this show. I tried to give it (Jericho) a chance when it first aired but I just had too many other shows on to keep track of. Now with most of them off air and a dvr that can record 4 shows at once, it would be nice to see this show on the air again!

This show was the best that I have seen in years. I am a real late commer to the series. I discovered it around December 27-28 2008. I discovered it on YouTube. After doing more research I went out and bought all of season 1&2 on DVD, watched it all back to back in no more than 3 days. I was hooked!
After spending the last couple of weeks reading forums and blogs , the main issue with pulling the show off the air was Ratings. Ratings translate to dollars. So, If it were possible to raise money and invest with the production company to get another seaon, how could the networks refuse? If the “Nuts” campaign had an effect, how do you suppose a worldwide endeavour like this one would be like? I mean, if we want it ,we can pay for it. This would mean many people across the globe, investing whatever they can to make this happen. This is simply an idea. I know that there are other grass roots marketing like getting people to buy the DVDs and talking about it through word of mouth etc. Let’s finance the production. Let’s get in touch with the Production company and see how this could happen. Give me you thoughts.

Now there’s a novel idea of contributing to the funding of a TV show – not sure if that’s been done before. I wonder if they could move into do some direct-to-dvd feature length movie/episodes for the fans to buy and show their support to the show – if they sell well, the TV companies would make money and would want to make more.

In order for this financing idea to work we must make it clear that this whole exercise is to help create a quality TV show that we all believe in. We must agree to the idea that we want the show back with all the actors and crew, writers, producers and directors.
I believe that there has to be a central repository where all the Jericho message boards, forums, blogs and Jericho fan sites can communicate and gather to have this idea work.
Here is a brief outline for this project. If you have any additional ideas please feel free to add your comments.
1) Create a Non-profit organization that will be used to manage the funds that will be collected and transferred to the Production Company and producers of the show.
2) Get the producers of the show onboard. This will ensure the legitimacy of the project to the entire Jericho community.
3) Assign a committee to oversee the entire project to make sure that we have 100% transparency.
4) Set up a web site that will serve as the central infrastructure repository to handle all inquiries and donations.
5) Have the producers shop around the show to various cable companies in niche markets around the world or one main cable network in the U.S.
6) To get the word out and create a buzz the entire community will have to approach all forums, websites and blogs that talk about Jericho and also general sites that talk about TV and entertainment. We need a lot of people.
7) Some of the ideas for distribution from the comment that Zath wrote above can also apply. I will need more ideas.
That is a somewhat brief outline. As I mentioned earlier if you have any comments or ideas please feel free to add your insight.

i dont know why i lost interest when it was on tv, guess i never could sit down and watch it when it was on, then wait a week for next ep; SO i just torrent all the eps thus far and im blown away, what a show.. i just bought dvd box sets of season 1 &2 via ezydvd in australia.
i really hope this show comes back on.. cant understand why the majority cant seem to enjoy this fantastic piece of work, such a beautifull and unique story/idea. shame teh masses cant see that, if it were up to me, we’d be looking at 5 seasons minimum.

I have just read all the comments about bring Jericho back for a third season and cannot understand why the show was canncelled. It just doesn’t make any sense. everyone I talk to loved the show. Every Sunday night at seven PT on the CW I’ve been watching the season one episodes. Does anyone think that the CW is going to pick up Jericho since they are showing the reruns? Does anyone out there know? I’ve been watching Jericho since the begining. It is by very far the best show on television!

It’s very easy to understand why the show was cancelled. It was due to poor ratings that resulted from poor network slating. They put it in a time slot that had heavy competition, changed the air time frequently, and pre-empted it or failed to air it for weeks. For a show like Jericho, it is necessary to watch it from beginning to end without interruption. This means putting it in a time slot with weak competition so that it can dominate and attract more viewers, as well as keeping it on the same time each week. I missed several of the initial episodes, caught two of season two, and did not fully appreciate the writing and depth of the plot and characters – until now. Havning rented the DVDs and watched it straight through, my family is hooked. Being a ham radio operator, I especially liked the insider clues that were tapped out in morse code during the “Jericho in TV static” opening screens (Bob is not FBI, one got away, she may not make it, etc).
With Battlestar Galactica winding down on SciFi, now would be a good time to line up a show like Jericho to fill the void.

@TX Refugee – the point about Battlestar Galactica ending is a very good, Sci-Fi have now lost that as their own original series, they’ve cancelled Stargate: Atlantis (with another Stargate show being developed), but right now I struggle to name any other big shows of their’s.
Also, I had no idea that the morse code in the static actually meant something – was it a different message for every episode?

Honestly, I just found out about Jericho 2 days ago when I was looking for something new. I’ve been playing an Xbox game called ‘Fallout’, which is based in a post nuclear United States (just like the setting of Jericho). I feel this series has so much to offer us in storyline, and you have to admit, everyone wonders what it will be like after the world ‘ends’. I’m pissed that CBS is doing this, and canceled them twice. Jericho is so much better than the other krappy shows CBS has lined up.

@pandrummer – I wasn’t aware that a Jericho movie had been confirmed? In my experience TV companies say things like that when cancelling shows to keep the fans quiet and then nothing happens…Eg. Angel.

My husband and i just started watching this show through Netflix instant cue and we watched both seasons within like 2 wks. We loved this show from the start of it!!! It has great acting and an excellent plot. We were so disappointed that there were only 7 episodes in the 2nd season=(. We want more Jericho; I’ve grown to love these characters. Bring this show back everyone!!!! It deserves much fan appreciation; this is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long ass time!!!

ive never heard of jericho so they must not advertised it good enough cause i found it on netflix and that was one of the best shows i have ever seen they most definately need to make a third season and advertise it

Hi there! Aimee here from the Philippines. I’m one of the many fans of Jericho here who’s wishing for a season 3. I’m still in season 1 though, ‘coz before i had no time to watch the show. I was really curious about the show and really wanted to watch it but i was not able to so now i’m getting the season one from torrent and i’m hoping to get it on original dvd when i start to work. haha.
I really hope they make season 3.. TT i was so sad when i saw that season 2 only had 7 episodes.
Oh, it’s the first time i have heard of the movie… i’m definitely going to watch that.. as long as the characters are the same..

Excellent series very well written and acted has the potential of being a major franchise, may be too contraversal for too many people as it explores what could potentially happen after a disaster. i hope it comes back.

I just started watching Jericho a couple of days ago and I agree with everybody else. Jericho is a well thought out TV series and a great show. My brother turned me onto it and i havn’t looked back, in fact i wish to look ahead at a season 3!

Ok Jericho is a great show. Sure some people may prefer other shows other than this one but Jericho is one of the shows that deserves to at least complete itself, ending properly like most shows with huge fan numbers do. There are many fans who are very dedicated to this show. I believe Jericho should be kept away from any possibility of cancellation. If it were cancelled, can you imagine the reaction of many Americans who enjoy the show? CBS would only be flooded with phone calls and e-mails and possible even more packages of peanuts (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, look it up) to the point where they would be forced to bring Jericho back or lose even more viewers for the whole station. Bring Jericho back!

There has to be a season 3. There is so much more that can be done. There is not enough on TV that is original and gripping especially with so much reality rubbish that the networks seem to fall back on. Give us good TV, not all of us are lacking in imagination, we need progamming like JERICHO.

It’s been well over 12 months since season 2 came out now, it is obvious
that support for Jericho is still strong the network should just bite the bullet

Hey all, I just finished a week of Jericho from the first to the last episode on dvd. It was the 5th time I watched it since I saw the series on air back well it seems ages now. What happens to jericho now, what will the end result be for the country and with the two different endings what happened to hawkins did jake and chavez rescue him. Theres so much that still needs done before ending a series. Fans around the world flood the jericho sites wanting to know if theres a season 3 comming out. If not CBS, another network, we have to get people talking again and get jericho in there heads once more to continue the show for all us fans out there. I say NUTS yes NUTS send them all the nuts you can get we did it once lets do it again to get the word out. Send them to CBS or any other network out there that we need this show back and we’re tired of being put on the back burner. I must say CBS killed the show before it even aired season 1 when they placed it in the same time frame as of American Idol like they wanted it to unsucceed, no show will ever pick up ratings on the same hour as american idol I see some of the shows that are are still aired but not jericho. If it was an hour later or placed on anyother weekday it may have survived and season 2 would have been a few episodes longer than the 7 they ended it with . So before I go please bring back jericho for the fans across the world and R.I.P to bonnie and Mayor Green. Hale Jericho.

i love jericho! ive watched seasons 1 and 2 start to finish a few times now.. i would pay good money to see a season 3. from the looks of it, seems as tho there will not be a 3rd season. but i sure hope that changes. or at least something is done to sustain my thirst for more. heck i really hate reading but id even go after the book if they wrote one!

I’m from Portugal , the other side of the ocean.
All i can say its that Jericho is the best series that i ever seen.
I was shocked when someone told me that the 2º series was only 7 episodes, and that ended, just right there.
In my opinion, the production should give an opportunity to the series, an opportunity to the 3rd one, an opportunity to the fans.
I’m a fan, and just like the other fans, I’ll love to see it
