Jak and Daxter 5: The Lost Frontier Announced
Whilst browsing the web at work today (because I’m just that busy), I came across the recent list of when and what PS3 games are being released in 2009.
As you may have gathered, after scrolling about three quarters down the page, I saw the title ‘Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier’ and I made the whole office jump when I screamed “YEAH BABY!!” at the top of my voice. It was however, on the US list, but NOT the UK list. No surprise there then. But I can’t seeing it being that far behind the US release.
This will be the 5th game of the franchise that has been done by Naughty Dog. Daxter on PSP was made by Ready at Dawn and although they did a stand up job, it just wasn’t the same as Naughty Dog’s ingenious work.
With the first four being on PS2 and, like a fine wine, matured with age and had bigger storylines, and better visuals (although the first is still my favourite), it’s going to be very interesting to see what Jak and Daxter’s first PS3 outing is going to look like.
Naughty Dog have improved the engine they used on the first Uncharted so it can handle more people in the same scene and an incredible amount detail thrown in for good measure. It’s going to be this engine that is to be used for The Lost Frontier.
I’ve been looking around to find out when the release date is, and everywhere seems to have December 31st 2009 pencilled in. I can see this being a provisional date only, with the actual release date being released to us eagerly awaiting fans for the next instalment of the amazingly popular Jak and Daxter in the not so distant future.
For those of you a might be unfamiliar with Jak and Daxter, they are created by Naughty Dog who brought us the first Crash Bandicoot and also Uncharted on the PS3.
With Nathan Drake (the hero of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune), being the flagship character of Naughty Dog at present, I’m assuming that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will be released before Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier.
I’m a big fan of all Naughty Dog games and will be pre-ordered Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier as soon as the release dates are announced.

Yeah. I’ve double checked around the Internet……a lot! And the majority of people are saying that it’s definite but not official announced yet because of Uncharted 2, and if IGN have it listed on their site, then that’s very promising.
I’ve watched this video on YouTube quite a lot to see if it’s real and the voices seem authentic, especially Daxters, so this could be actual footage from Lost Frontier, but don’t take it as 100% proof.
But I think it’s safe to say that it is going to happen.

I am a huge Jak and daxter fan. so much I’ve beeten evry game at least 3 times. I first heard about Jak 4 from Youtube and have seen some early animation and voice clips! The voicees of Jak and Daxter sounded correct so I think it was real. From the cover of the game it looks like Jak and Daxter are back in sandover vilage. the game is gonna rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same here. I complete them almost once each every 18 months. (Geek I know). I do hope it is back in sandover village as I still find the 1st game to be my best one…..so far. But the other games are still awesome.

Jak needs to return in a decend adventure game. Not just racing and just playing as Daxter. Its been 4 years since Jak 3. Uncharted is a real good game but its not Jak. Uncharted 2 can wait a little while.

i really hope jak 5 comes out earlier than expected i luv all Jak games except number 4. My favourite was Jak 2.

this is jak 4 not 5.
Jak and daxter will never be for the 360, madman.
And that picture at the top of the page with the logo on it, is fake
Also, naughty dog isn’t makin this game, high impact games are (secret agent clank) so it might not be as good as the original trilogy but it should be really good.
this lets naughty dog work on uncharted 2 while high impact games can get on with jak 4

Hey Weeryo, there’s a later post that they put up a few weeks back that mentions about High Impact Games making the new Jak and Daxter game. Plus this is the 5th game to star Jak and Daxter, albeit Jak X was just a racer, but technical still had a storyline to it
.
Cannot wait to play this. Just hope it’s not a complete hash of a already brilliant franchise.

yeah naughtydog aren’t making this one and its only out for ps2 and psp which means that it doesn’t look very good considering what the ps3 version of ratchet and clank gave us. Its got lots of space pirates and monsters and sounds like a ratchet and clank clone. bitterly dissapointed with naughtydogs insistance on putting unchartered as priority and letting such a huge franchise go and rot.
