iTunes’ Ping and Twitter Get At Least Some Degree of Integration

Ping_TwitterRemember when Steve Jobs brought us the iTunes 10 update with Ping functionality at Apple’s music event this year? Well during the keynote the shots clearly showed us Facebook integration of some sort and basically sharing your friends across the two social networks. Well, once it actually launched it was nowhere to be seen and to be honest, it annoyed a lot of people.

So, who’s come along, but Twitter, and stolen the whole social network partnership thing from right under Zuckerberg’s nose, providing he was actually sniffing it out in the first place.

So, what exactly can we expect from the latest partnership? Well, it’s hardly going to change the world or anything, but Ping will soon give Twitter an extra dimension and more focus on music, as your Pings will be posted onto Twitter.

Also those of you who have adopted the new Twitter UI, will get a link to buy the song in the iTunes store and an album artwork thumbnail. It all seems pretty neat and a nice coalition between one of the most rapidly expanding social networks around and the social network… for music.

So, although this isn’t exactly the most groundbreaking news we will bring you this year, or even this week, but I think its a great move forward especially for Ping, which itself hasn’t exactly set the social side of the web alight with music.

Are you happy with the idea of Ping integration into Twitter or are you still bitter about the lack of Facebook? And while we’re at it, are there any of you out there who actually use Ping?
