Is Apple Preparing To Redesign iOS Notifications?

Written by on February 12, 2011 · Filed under Tech

iOS-notifications-newThe notifications system on the iPhone has long been criticised, and reports emerging this afternoon suggest that the Cupertino company is finally going to redevelop the system. But, the question is more who will actually do it than how will it be done.

You see, the reports continue to claim that Apple is going to employ a third-party developer, who has previously developed apps for the iOS App Store, to develop the notification system. Of course, Apple has a history of buying small companies and incorporating the functionality, so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise. The question is, who?

Cult of Mac claims that Apple is most likely going to be the developers of the popular Boxcar service, or a second notification app called AppRemix. It’s hard to put your finger on how likely these rumours are, but it isn’t beyond the realms of possibility that they could be. So we’ll just hold on tight and see if these, not exactly exciting, rumours come to fruition.

Are you happy with the current notifications system on the iPhone, or would you like to see some improvements made in time for iOS 5? Let us know in the comments!
