‘Iron Man’ Review
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges, Terrence Howard
Director: Jon Favreau
Running Time: 126 mins
So begins one of the biggest summers in movie history!
When I first heard Iron Man was coming to the big screen, I was a bit sceptical. Was it to be another poor attempt at introducing a Marvel hero, or was this to be marker for future superhero films?
I’m glad to say it was the latter!
The choice of cast for Iron Man was brilliant, and even director Jon Favreau appears as one of Tony Starks’ bodyguards as to get in on the action.
The film starts off with Tony Stark in Afghanistan showing off Stark Industries new weapon ‘The Jericho’. On their way back to the base, the convoy gets attacked and there’s a flashback showing Tony Stark’s playboy lifestyle.
After that, you get to see Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) change the way he feels about the weapons he’s so famously known for making, when he gets kidnapped by a group of terrorists to make ‘The Jericho’.
This in turn, brings Stark to create his alter ego, Iron Man.
There are parts in the film where, if it wasn’t for Downey Jr’s charisma and charm, the film would become quite dull. He keeps the audience glued to the screen with some brilliant one liners and some great scenes between him and Gwyneth Paltrow.
His friendship with his robots is another great part which adds a bit of humour to the film during the middle, when Stark creates Iron Man.
It’s been a while since Downey Jr has appeared in a blockbuster film, or any film for that matter, but from this performance, you’ll want to see him again and again. The best tribute I can pay to him is that he is to Iron Man, what Johnny Depp was to Pirates of the Caribbean.
If you’re a marvel comic fan, then I insist that you stay till the end of the credits as you might see a certain Samuel L. Jackson as another Marvel hero!!
Iron Man is one of the best superhero intro movies that I have seen, and a great start to what is to be an amazing summer for movie goers.

I watched it on the weekend and I have to say it was an amazing movie, I was a little disappointed with the sudden ending but it was still worth the watch. Bring on Iron man 2.

I have not watched this film myself. But, I heard that the tickets have been greatly sold out. Several people I met said that this one is better than Spiderman 3.

Seen it and it is a good fim. RDjr is perfect as Iron Man. The good nes is that it’s opened up the gates for Thor, Captain America and the Avengers.

I watched this on the opening weekend and really enjoyed it – quite often your comic book hero first movie has a lot of origin stuff which only the big comic fans appreciate – I wasn’t aware of Iron Man’s origin story, but it sure was a fun ride to see this billionaire playboy evolve – while retaining his sense of humour!
Looks like the opening weekend earnings have been great from some sites that I’ve read, even GTA4 hasn’t harmed it’s takings – Iron Man 2 should be on it’s way!
*wishes he’s stayed back for the end of the credits!*

Mariah – You know what? I think I may have enjoyed Iron Man more than Spiderman 3 – it just didn’t quite work out with so many villains, it almost turned into one of the poor Batman films.
