iPhone Docking Station Keyboard – A Pointless Smartphone Stand?

Written by on March 2, 2010 · Filed under Tech

matias-iphone-docking-station-keyboard-smallWe have all seen our fair share of useless gadgets which when looking at them makes us think ‘who on earth thought of that’. Stupidity lies in the eye of the beholder, or now, it seems, the creator. Matias, who is fairly well known for their electrical goods accessories, has seen fit to create an iPhone 3GS / iPod Touch dock which does pretty much nothing.

Perhaps the greatest part of this complete mis-concept is the fact that this ‘iPhone dock’, which looks (well is) just a standard keyboard with a blank space next to the the numerical keypad, does nothing to increase the devices functionality in any way.

It does not charge it, does not sync it, does not allow you to play music directly from it and the whole idea behind it, as stated by Matias, is to “have all your mobile applications at your fingertips”.

So would you buy one? Well, to shell out $49.95 for a keyboard with next to no advanced features, but a lonesome space above the numerical keypad, would be considered insane. What’s more, the keypad itself does not really look too cracking – with no colour options available at this time, and the keyboard being USB 2.0 (not bluetooth). I think I’ll speak for all of us when I say that this concept is perhaps not the greatest value for money.

Other products from Matias include Laptop Armour, the iFold and the highly popular ‘tactilepro’ keyboard.
