There’s nothing like a fresh set of Apple rumours to end the weekend with, and this one trumps the lot… Late yesterday, Engadget published a story revealing what was supposedly an iPhone 4G to the world. Apparently found ‘on the floor of a San Jose bar inside of an iPhone 3G case’, the pictures revealed an aluminium-like bezel on the device and a familiar looking black plastic front and back casing.
Looking at the images, the device is almost certainly an early prototype model, with visible seams on the side of the device between the power button and headphone jack. Despite this, it does offer an insight in to the future of the platform which is always nice!
According to the source, the device comes complete with a front facing camera, which would support the recently found iChat references in the iPhone OS 4.0 SDK and also 80GB of built-in storage. Again, this should be taken with a pinch of salt, as this is almost certainly a prototype device, but hopefully we’ll see the final production device at WWDC in just a few months.
It would certainly be nice to see a change of design for the iPhone after not seeing a single aesthetic change to the device since its original release a few years ago. Hopefully, the aluminium bezel is here to stay, and it would be nice to see it rounded at the back similar to the design of the stylish iPad and recent iPod Touch. Whatever Apple comes up with is sure to send fan boys crazy – hold on to your hats, it’s going to be an interesting few months!
