HTC’s Windows Phone 7 Devices May Yet Have Sense UI, Android 3.0 Too!

HTC’s Sense UI has proven extremely popular to date, as it has been deployed on a variety of Windows Mobile and Android phones. However, there was a fair amount of discontent from HTC fans when Microsoft declared that Windows Phone 7 was to all intents and purposes, unskinnable. However, it turns that Sense UI may be implanted into Windows Phone 7, after all.
In an interview with Forbes, HTC’s Drew Bamford declared that Sense UI would indeed appear in their forthcoming range of Windows Phone 7 devices, after it was declared last week that HTC would be one of 5 manufacturers to utilise Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7 mobile OS.
Bamford went on to say that, “Microsoft has taken firmer control of the core experience,” meaning that the Sense UI couldn’t be fully integrated into Windows Phone 7 devices, but that they would “augment” the OS with extra functionality, which he remained tight-lipped about.
So, it will be interesting to see how HTC make use of the combination of Sense UI and Windows Phone 7. In the past HTC has been a fan of really differentiating the user’s experience from other manufacturers, but with a lot of the excitement surrounding Windows Phone 7 being centred on the interesting new UI, just how much would it be credible to replace with their own?
In addition to this news, it has also been all but confirmed that HTC’s Sense UI will also appear in their future Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) devices. So hey, even if it doesn’t work out on Windows Phone, Google’s next OS will steam in and save the day!
