‘Google Earth’ iPhone App Review

google-earth-iphone-local-searchGoogle have just released a new application for the iPhone, now you can have Google Earth on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

I’ve been using the Google Earth application ever since it was first released back in 2005; I try not to use it too often as I find I end up flying around looking at all the satellites views of various locations, zooming in and out all over the place for a good hour or two once I do start using it.

Now you can access all the great features of Google Earth on your iPhone including some specific ones just for the iPhone version:

  • Tilt your iPhone to adjust your view to see mountainous terrain
  • View the Panoramio layer and browse the millions of geo-located photos from around the world
  • View geo-located Wikipedia articles
  • Use the ‘Location’ feature to fly to your current location
  • Search for cities, places and business around the globe with Google Local Search

You can see the new Google Earth for iPhone app in action by watching the following video, this looks like it will be a great useful resource to access wherever you may be, especially being able to access the related Wikipedia entries, photos from Panoramio and find local places using the Google Local Search option.

Have you had chance to try this out on your iPhone yet? If not, you can find it over at the iPhone App Store. What do you think to how Google have implemented one of their best desktop applications onto the Apple iPhone platform?
