Free Tesco Mobile Sim Card

I was recently talking to a friend of mine who had got a free Tesco SIM card for her mobile phone, she has recently got sick of paying out each month and being bound to a contract with one of the main large mobile networks which just did not give her value for money.

Tesco (the UK Supermarket) has been selling Pay As You Go mobile phones for a number of years now, they began by selling PAYG handsets of the major networks, but in recent times they have been mobile phone handsets on their own branded Tesco Mobile network - which actually uses the O2 network much like Virgin Mobile uses T-Mobile.

Now like many of the major networks, they are giving away free Tesco Mobile SIM cards as a means of getting people onto their PAYG ‘Standard Plus’ network and from the looks of their Tesco Mobile PAYG tariff it seems to be definitely worth considering.

  • FREE monthly bonus of 500 texts* or 150 minutes*, when you top up £15 a month
  • Simple, low flat-rate calls & texts
  • Half-price calls and texts to your 5 favourite UK numbers
  • Free delivery of up to 2 Free SIMs

*To ANY UK mobile or standard fixed line numbers starting with 01, 02 or 03 at ANYTIME

This is especially good if you’re happy with the mobile phone handset you’ve already got from being on a contract already, just put in the SIM card and you should be good to go (although you need to unlock your first - I’ll be covering how to go about unlocking mobiles very soon in an upcoming post).

In the meantime, why not get signed up and have a free Tesco Mobile SIM card on it’s way to you!

    Hi Zath :)

After giving you that information, i’ve got something better than that!

400 texts, and 200 minutes, and unlimited 02 to 02 calls, plus up to £1 daily allowance on internet - all for £15 ! there is no contract as such! it rolls on every month and if u want to cancel at any time you give them a months notice. Bargain :)

Now that sounds like a really good deal!

I shall have to investigate that some more as I do like a bargain - I also have a friend who has just gone back onto O2 PAYG - they are a high volume texter and this would definitely help out with “their habit” ;)

I like the sound of 1 month rolling contracts too - more networks should offer that option. Thanks!

Hi, we have moved our daughter to TESCO sim card after I have read your recommendation.
Everything wonderful EXCEPT, Tesco seems fills up their own Flower order, Insurance quote etc numbers on address book as marketing device. She deleted them many times but apparently all come back next day - the customer service lady told me there is no way to delete them since it’s ‘built in’ in Tesco sim card.

Anybody found this annoying or nobody cares? It’s no use for teenager!
    Any suggestion greatly appreciated.

    Yes it is annoying.

I’ve commenced all my own contacts with a ! - that way they appear before the Tesco contacts.

That’s a good tip Julian! - I’m guessing prefixing any of your contacts with a punctuation mark, perhaps an underscore _ would work well - I use that to prioritise the order of certain lists.
