Free Downloadable Ringtones (Windows Mobile)

What’s this? Microsoft are giving away free downloadable ringtones for Windows Mobile? Well I recently upgraded the operating system on my HTC Tytn II to Windows Mobile 6.1 and in so doing I ended up registering with Microsoft as a Windows Mobile user which means I’ve been receiving a monthly email with the latest news and applications that’s available for my HTC Tytn II.

As part of Microsoft’s Windows Mobile site, there’s section that contains free downloadable ringtones that you can download and use on your smartphone/mobile phone. There are plenty of different categories to choose from, you can preview and play the ringtone before downloading.

The free ringtones themselves are in .wma format and the quality seems to be good from the ones that I’ve tried so far, so it’s just a case of transferring those to your Windows Mobile phone and you’ve got some good quality ringtones, particular good for holiday times of the year, when you just want a quick temporary ringtone for a week or two.

I think I may have to try out some of the Halloween ringtones in the next few weeks and then perhaps take a look at some Halo 3 ringtones in the games section.

Admittedly, it does say on the site that these free ringtones are for those based in the US only, however there was nothing to stop me downloading and using them in the UK. Normally these websites will just plain stop you from downloading them if you are outside the US, so I’m guessing it’s not that tight a restriction and Microsoft aren’t going to send the lawyers after you because of it!

I’ll be honest and say some of them I wouldn’t want to use myself , but overall I’d say it’s at least worth checking out these free downloable ringtones for Windows Mobile, you might find something you like!
