Free Credit Report and Credit Score
Do you want a free credit report and credit score? Or do you actually *need* one! Given the current economic climate and the “credit crunch” *, it’s perhaps more important than ever to be able to get an idea of what the credit agencies have on your credit history record. This is what most companies will use when assessing any applications you make for credit for a variety of products and services from car loans to mobile phone contracts.
* “Credit crunch” – I was in two minds to even use that phrase, for some reason I just don’t like this term, it just sounds like too much of a sound bite phrase created by a TV news show – to me it sounds more like a name for a bowl of cereal!
Anyway…so why not get a free credit report and credit score to find out what information is being kept about you and is being used as a basis to make decisions that will affect your life. It’s probably in your interests to check it out, some of the information could be out of date or just plain incorrect which in turn could be adversely affecting your credit status.
When I actually got hold of my credit report, they had a bunch of credit cards and bank accounts that I’d closed long ago, but these are the kinds of things that can adversely affect any applications that are based off the back of credit checks – they may turn you down because they think you have access to too much credit already when in actual fact their information is wrong and you don’t. It’s this kind of evaluation of your financial and credit situation which is a good idea to check on an annual basis and now with so many of these kind of services online, it’s easier than ever before!
All you need to do is go to this free credit report site and sign up and your credit history will be sent to you! – This is actually a benefit of being a member with Credit Expert from Experian, but you’re free to leave in your first free introductory month once you’ve got your report and you don’t want to use the rest of their financial services.
Therefore, if you would like some useful financial reading about yourself to go with your “Credit Crunch” on a morning, then be sure to sign up for your free credit report and credit score!

With the economy the way that it is today, we’re seeing credit card debts rising to a whole new level. The average family credit card debt will most likely go over $10,000 sometime in 2009.

I should say that it’s more important that you care about your credit history and
report than your fico score. For example you might have a good credit score but not
a solid and established credit history. In this case, despite your good score, you
will not be approved for a mortgage loan or a car loan. Therefore you should be
establishing a good credit history as well as trying to boost your score.

The credit card report is free anyway so take the chance. You might need this one day when you want to get a loan. At least from then on you can assess your chance to avail and your capability to pay.
