Football Manager Live Pre-Order

The Football Manager Live pre-order has now gone live…so to speak. You can now pre-order and reserve your space on one of the Football Manager Live servers to ensure that you will be able to play once the game is released out of beta.

Sports Interactive have announced some more information as to how the game will be played. The surprising point for me is that you won’t have to actually pay for the game itself upfront in a box like you would with other online games.

Yes you pay a monthly subscription like other massively multiplayer online games such as World of Warcraft, but in this case you don’t need to pay for the initial game, just download the client off the website once you receive your code and you can play.

The process that Sports Interactive will be following for people to sign up for this game is as follows:

1. Visit the Football Manager Live Pre-Order page and register/login.
2. Pick a unique team name that your football club will be known as – choose wisely as this name is permanent and cannot be changed later!
3. Pick your gameworld – if you’ve got friends signing up too, you’ll want to make sure you’re all together on the same server.
4. Choose your subscription option, details on pricing are below.
5. Patiently wait for your gameworld to open up, with the expected release date of ’sometime’ around October 2008.

The subscription options are as follows:

• 3 Month Subscription: £22.99
• 6 Month Subscription: £43.99
• 12 Month Subscription: £72.99

There are currently 14 gameworlds planned in the initial roll-out, each named after a well-known footballing name – for example, my team, ‘Zath Rovers’ is signed up to the Shearer gameworld server.
