Football Manager? – I Will Survive! (Video)
When you make the commitment to take up the job as a Football Manager, it is a very time consuming endeavour as you move all your pieces (players) into and out of place like a hugely complicated game of chess.
It is a (gaming) profession that is fraught with hard work, stress and at some points, huge frustration when things go against you – particularly in the last minute of a football game. If things go well, you won’t be staring the threat of relegation in the face, if you do really well, you may well have to deal with the other problem of just keeping hold of your best players as the bigger clubs circle round you for them.
Perhaps the worst problem of all to deal with though is that of a bug within the game itself, a bug which ruins your hard work, a bug that needs a patch to fix it – I mean, real football managers have a lot to contend with admittedly, but at least they don’t have just plain “weird” things happening that defy the laws of physics and they don’t lose players due to non-existent clauses in contracts.
That being the case, the wait for Sports Interactive to fix bugs with the game can seem to be a long one, but at least they do come along eventually like the Football Manager 2008 patch did. Until they are released though, why not vent your frustration with a Football Manager song?

To a certain degree, I do agree with you Peter.
I have some really fond memories of playing Championship Manager, such as taking York City from the bottom of the English Leagues to winning the Premiership and Champions League year in, year out.
It was certainly an easier game if you got the right players back then, whereas now, you can get great players, employ a reasonable tactic, then I find that after the first season, opposing sides seem to counter it on a regular basis and I don’t end up doing as well in the second season even though by all rights (in my head at least) I should be doing much better!
Maybe it’s supposed to be more realistic, maybe it’s because I end up tinkering too much with the tactics on an individual player basis, so they don’t work as well as simpler pre-made ones?
Does anyone else find they have issues with things like this happening with the later versions of Football Manager?

I’ve never played the FIFA management games as I’ve always stuck with the Sports Interactive ones, be it Championship or Football Manager as their game engine developed – overall, once the bugs are fixed, I still have to think they have the better game.
