football-manager-handheld-2010-logoHuge news for all you Football Manager fans out there! A post on the SI Games forum today has confirmed that the best football management game is coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch as an app!

Not only have we only just been alerted to this, but it’s actually being released within the next 48 hours! It was described on the post as “what has been our best kept secret ever”. It will be called Football Manager Handheld, and as soon as you can get it from the App Store, we’ll update this post and let you all know.

The iPod Touch / iPhone app will be priced at £6.99 in the UK, which is great value considering the price of both the Football Manager 2010 PC/Mac desktop version and handheld version on the Sony PSP – which is considerably more expensive. Fingers crossed, it’ll be as feature filled as the PSP version is with a great choice of leagues and player databases. It may just encourage me to get an iPhone 4G if Apple update it with the new OS in a few months…

According to comments from SI moderators on the forum, you’ll be able to run one league at a time and the match engine will be 2D complete with a text engine. It’s playable on older generation iPod Touches as well as original model iPhone’s for compatibility, so there should be no issues with gameplay for those of you with the original models of these devices – even if those older devices won’t be capable of the iPhone OS 4 multi-tasking.

Look out for a full Football Manager Handheld review in the coming days, I’ll be sure to let you know how I get on with it – in the meantime, if you want to get it for yourself you can do so by downloading FM 2010 from iPhone App Store!
