Football Manager 2009 Update v9.1.0

football-manager-2009On the day of release the first Football Manager 2009 update v9.1.0 was available for the game - how’s that for service from Sports Interactive?

Obviously, some people could view this as being a bugged game being sent out for release too early, but I’m pleased to see that the guys over at Sports Interactive have that much commitment to their franchise that they are always looking to fix bugs and improve it to make Football Manager the best football management game out there.

This year marks the first year that Football Manager will be available through Valve’s Steam system – their digital game distribution download system has been really successful since it was launched with Half Life 2 and it’s now probably the leading platform out there.

One of the real benefits of Steam is that it keeps all your games up to date with the latest patches, which means that it downloads and installs them for you without you having to do anything yourself – a real step forward for the process of applying a Football Manager 2009 update I’m sure you’ll agree.

Another benefit of using Steam is that, even if you buy the retail boxed version of Football Manager you can install it and then tie into a Steam account, which then means you can then play Football Manager on any Internet connected computer that has Steam installed – you no longer need to have the Football Manager DVD in your drive.

However, if you prefer not to use Steam and have those benefits, you can still download and install the Football Manager 2009 update by the “old fashioned way” by heading over to the Football Manager 2009 update v9.1.0 page.

You can find the details of what has been fixed/changed/improved over at the FM 2009 patch release notes page.

Have you got Football Manager 2009 yet? What do you think to it? Have the improvements that they’ve made to the game in the latest release and updates improved it further?

If you still haven’t got it yet, you can play the FM 2009 demo first and then you can pick up Football Manager 2009 for PC and Mac at a bargain price of £19.99.
