Follow Zath on Twitter!
Do you Twitter? I have to admit that I was very sceptical about this Twittering malarkey – I thought it was just a pointless thing to be doing as I wrote about in one of my early posts where I questioned the point of Twitter? However, that said, I have to admit that I think I was wrong about it and am now perhaps a little late to the Twitter party, but better late than never!
Twitter is essentially a way of letting people know what you’re currently up to or thinking – pretty much like people update their Facebook status, a mini-blog so to speak! In fact I have my Facebook status set up to update to whatever I post as a Twitter update by installing the Twitter application onto my Facebook account.
In terms of using Twitter for blog and internet marketing, I’ve only just started using it and not done a great deal other than promote some of my blog posts which I feel would be of use to other people. Already it’s proven it’s worth as you get to hear news and updates from people you’re following, it helped me to keep up to date with people who were attending the Northern UK Bloggers’ Meet-Up last month and I’ve also kept up to date with people from that event using Twitter, it’s definitely a Web 2.0 application that is worth checking out.
There are also various programs that you can set up on your mobile phone so that you can Twitter from your mobile and also receive updates from people that you “follow” on Twitter, you don’t even need to be sat at your computer to make use of Twitter!
It ultimately means you can have a text message conference (do to speak) with a bunch of your friends without getting charged for lots of texts – the data usage to do this using Twitter will be much less than the standard prices for text messages – in terms of data usage, text message are hugely expensive and mobile networks make huge profits from them!
Anyway, as a converted anti-Twitter person, I have seen the light and you can now follow Zath on Twitter and see what we’re up to and what I’ve got to say – there’s some extra content that you won’t find here on the website, don’t miss out!

Mariah,
Like anything, some people choose to use tools to thrust themselves upon people. Generally, I’ve found Twitter to be a great (and fun) networking tool. I’ve chosen to use it for personal marketing, while some choose to use it to market their firm. A perfect example in the US is Comcast (a large cable company), that has received a great deal of attention for its use of Twitter as a customer support vehicle (Twitter Handle: ComcastCares). Regardless, you can choose with whom you interact and can set your preferences accordingly. Good Luck!

I’m certainly not using it to spam people Mariah as I’m lucky if I Twitter once a day on average, sometimes I do publicise a post that I think might be of use to people, but generally it is just a means of telling people what I’m up to and let them get to know me better.
