Facebook – Pirate Language Added!
Did you know that Facebook has an English (Pirate) language option within the standard settings? I certainly didn’t and don’t know how long it’s been there (probably ages), but have just seen it mentioned on Twitter by Jamie Harrop and had to give it a try.
All you need to do is scroll down to the bottom of any Facebook page and click on the link which say English (UK) or whatever current language you’re using, a popup window appears with a selection of standard languages, except one of the options is for English (Pirate) – you then simply select this and when you’re returned to your Facebook pages, you’ll see that most of your Facebook interface has now become Pirate-ised and ye will be talking like a pirate in no time!
This looks quite a novel little fun feature for Facebook to throw into the mix especially after all the problems they’ve had with people’s reaction to the recent Facebook design changes, this will be especially appropriate when National Pirate Day comes around!
Try it out for yourself and see what “ye find!!” – but here’s just a few of the changes this makes to your Facebook experience:
- Home page = Home Port
- Friends = Me Hearties
- Messages = Bottle o’ Messages
- Log Out = Abandon Ship
- Comment = Scrawl
- I Like This = Arrr, This be pleasin’ to me ye
- News Feed = Captain’s Log
- Show All = Peer into the depths
- What’s on your mind? = What be troublin’ ye?
- Share with friends = Divvy spoils t’ all ye mateys
- Adjust your settings = Adjust ye riggin’s
- View Pictures of Me = Spy Me Portraits
- View Videos of Me = Spy Me Bewitched Portraits
- Poke = Prod …. with yer dagger
- Applications = Arrrplications

Ha ha, that’s hilarious!! I wonder if some people will complain that it’s inappropriate in the light of the recent pirate activity off the coast of Somalia!!!
