E3 2009 Preview

e3-logoE3 is less than a week away, so us ‘Zath-ians’ thought we’d share the joy that E3 could be bringing to the gaming world this year, seeing as though our invites got lost in the post. They’ll regret it, after we show our faces at this year’s Eurogamer Expo at the Royal Armouries in Leeds this October! ;)

As always with the big gaming expo’s, rumours fly around all over the place with most of them actually turning out to be true, but never official until the day the news is announced. So it comes as no surprise that all the main 3 players (and a possible newcomer) have new ideas or games to show us.

Sony could be showing the world their new PS3 motion sensitive controller to give gamers a better gaming experience over the current sixaxis method being used. Microsoft with their Xbox 360 full body sensor controller, and Nintendo with their not so secret (seeing as though it was announced last year) Wii Motion Plus. There’s also been a small rumour floating around, or just some ‘what ifs’, of Apple entering the main console market (who knows, maybe they’ve bought the OnLive Games On-Demand System!) and going on the massive success of the iPhone, who’d question their ability to succeed and compete with the heavyweights.

As for game secrets, I have to say I haven’t really heard that many. There are a few that are meant to be announced, like the possibility of a new Mario or Zelda AAA title on the Wii and the new Hideo Kojima game that could possibly be a new Metal Gear Solid, or something else entirely. Only time will tell.

There’s bound to be loads more announcements and games shown off this year, and some of which could be really exciting.

Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the games that will be shown off this year, what with the release of the few trailers that have been let loose for us to drool over. Final Fantasy XIII, hopefully with the English voice-overs for us who don’t know Japanese and a bit more on the battle systems.

I could mention a few more games that are have been mentioned for an unveiling at E3, but I’d end up missing some out and having the fanboys shouting at me for missing something out that they’re really excited about.

Now, me personally, can’t wait to see more on ‘Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’, ‘Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time’ and hopefully, fingers crossed, ‘Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier’ will show its face and gives us something to look forward to in the new instalment of one of my favourite games.

Will this years E3 Expo be the last chance saloon for some of the big guns in the industry to give us what we need?

Keep checking back for the big headlines from this year’s E3 next week. I think we’re all going to be in for some exciting news!

Roll on 2nd June!!
