Desktop Blaster Review (Web)

desktop-blaster-logoWhat is Desktop Blaster? Well I think most of us by now have played the classic 80s arcade game, Asteroids either the original incarnation back in the day so to speak or more recently in one of the many arcade retro-style flash games that can be found on the Internet – this is the basic premise of Desktop Blaster, however with a slight twist!

Once you’ve installed this Adobe Air-based game (which takes less than a minute) and run it for the first time, you notice that it fills your screen with the classic recognisable Asteroids view of space, however something is slightly different! Instead of asteroids floating around, you need to fly your spaceship across the screen blasting icons from your desktop!

As you blast your way through your folders (for the purposes of the game only, your actual documents and files are safe from being blasted or deleted), they will break apart into some of the files contained within. You can also select which folders on your computer you’d like to blast away at, be it your dreaded work files or pictures of an ex!

There’s also a prize draw to win £500 for letting your friends know about this game, the more you tell, the more chances you have of winning the £500 prize!

Desktop Blaster is a fun little retro-style game with a modern twist which will also submit your scores onto the Sci-Fi Channel website – you can see it below, I took a screenshot while my name was still on there, I have a feeling it might soon be gone!

Remember when Wesley Crusher was the only one who didn’t get addicted to that eye-scanner game in Star Trek?

    Does anyone have his number?
