Crucial Memory Review

Having been a customer of Crucial Memory for many years now, I thought I might write a review on this company for those of you who are considering buying some memory to upgrade your computer. You can also get 5% discount off anything you buy from Crucial in this review!

Compatibility

One problem when you are buying memory as I found in my early days of buying PC components was that you really need to research and know exactly which type and variation of memory you require for you computer’s brand or specific motherboard.

One of Crucial’s biggest advantages is that they have the Crucial Memory Advisor Tool - a huge directory of computers and motherboards from which you can select what you currently have and they then present you with a selection of memory products that are guaranteed to be compatible.

The worst thing you can have is receive your memory through the post and find that it doesn’t work - at this point you don’t know if it’s because it’s faulty or because you’ve ordered the wrong memory in the first place - with Crucial’s website, you avoid this possibility entirely, it takes the guesswork out of upgrading!

Price

I was initially looking at getting 2GB for this particular computer, but when I saw how cheap the 4GB was, I just had to get that given the price difference was only £7! That’s around a cost of just 15% more for 100% more memory! Now that is a bargain! Overall Crucial’s prices are perhaps not always the cheapest, but they are usually quite close and in most cases for the sake of a few pounds, their products and service is definitely worth it.

Reliability

I’ve been buying Crucial memory for around 10 years now and really haven’t been let down. I have been tempted to try other branded and unbranded memory from other suppliers on occasion due to cheaper prices, but more often than not have always ended up with problems down the road, whereas Crucial memory has always remained rock-solid for me, a real quality product! - I’ve still got a computer running with Crucial memory that’s well over 5 years old!

Delivery

You can pay extra on top of the cost of the memory for next day delivery options etc. however I generally stick to the free option which still means I receive my order after only a couple of days of placing my order through their website, which I think is pretty good service all in all.

If you haven’t ordered from Crucial before I’d certainly recommend that you give them a go as the products and service you receive from them are top-notch!

That’s great to know about their memory advisor tool. That could really come in handy. I was burned once buying off brand memory to save a buck.

That’s exactly my feeling Curt, sometimes you can try and cut corners just too much - whereas this service ensures you get just what is needed while still being very competitively priced.

Memory is cheap as hell right now. I remember back in the olden days when it used to go up and down like oil prices!

I have had crucial memory at various times and it has always performed well for me.
