Cooliris iPhone App Review

Not content with enriching your desktop/laptop browser-based photo viewing, Cooliris have now come up with the Cooliris iPhone app which promises to bring similar functionality to Apple’s big name smartphone.
We recently wrote about the latest version of the Cooliris 3D photo wall which allows you to browse various online photo galleries on some of the biggest websites on the Internet using a very cool looking and easy to use 3D wall interface – if you haven’t used it yet, I’d definitely recommend you take a look, it looks great!
The Cooliris iPhone app means that you can now search, view and share photos, videos and news even faster by displaying them as an endlessly streaming 3D gallery wall, obviously you can use the iPhone motion sensors to help navigate the wall itself. The sites which you can use this functionality include:
- Google Images
- YouTube
- Flickr
- Picasa
- DeviantART
- Yahoo
- Smugmug
One of the great things that these image sources can provide are wallpapers, traditionally I’ve used these sources for my desktop wallpapers, however when you find interesting images using the Cooliris iPhone app, you can then save these images to your iPhone using the “photocopier” effect – making Cooliris in itself a great iPhone wallpaper app.
Another great additional feature that Cooliris provides is that you can share content that you particularly like with your friends and contacts on Twitter and tweet directly from the Cooliris iPhone app 3D wall of content.
As well as staying up to date with the latest news and entertainment on the Internet, you can save anything which really interests you and that you’d like to follow-up on later, by marking it as a favourite. This then synchronises with your Cooliris account and these favourites will then be available to you when you log onto your desktop computer and use the Cooliris browser functionality.
This app has already been developed up to v1.4 since the original v1.0 app was released six months ago, so clearly Cooliris are hard at work developing this app to further improve it and add additional functionality.
Overall, this Cooliris iPhone app is a great little app that you really should download and have a play around with for yourself, especially given its most agreeable of prices, it’s a free download! You’ve got nothing to lose and it will certainly impress your friends, check it out today!
