Cheap Mobile Phone Deals
You may remember a few weeks back we talked about basic mobile phones, and how many people are opting for a mobile phone features detox when choosing their next phone. At the time we suggested the Nokia 1112 which offered simple features at a good price – a solid, simple and reliable phone. However if a cheap price is your aim then I may have found the cheap mobile phone deal for you, mainly because this one is free!
Obviously there is a catch, but is not one that puts too much of a downer on the offer, as it is something that you would get anyway. The phone in question is the Nokia 1650 Blue, which although has a FM radio and colour screen is other wise devoid of the features you would expect to see today. No camera, no Wi-Fi and no fancy touch screen; a simple phone for texting and calling.
But you cannot deny that it is still good value – even if you do have to buy it with £30 airtime. The 17 hours battery life is also pretty impressive and when you add the fact that it is solidly built, and doesn’t look to bad you have a very good offer. It also goes to show how cheap these phones are to make, as the Carphone Warehouse can get away with “selling them” for free, and just relying on the money from top-ups (via Orange) for profit. Unfortunately it is also an example of the disposable lifestyle that we lead: you can just pick up a mobile phone for free if your current one breaks.
But still the Nokia 1650 Blue is a great cheap mobile phone deal and not a bad handset, but I would be quick if you intend to benefit from it as I don’t expect stocks to be there for long!
Once you’ve got your cheap mobile phone deal, you might want to then look at which network will give you the best PAYG deal for your usage, the good thing about this is that most of the networks are now giving away free sim cards, so whichever network you choose, it shouldn’t cost you too much to get up and running on it!

There are plenty of cheap but decent handsets around at the moment. Given the current economic climate I can see a fair few people doing away with their contracts when they come to an end and opting for a payg option where they are able to monitor spending and usage a lot better.
There are also some great sim only deals around at the moment for those that have a decent mobile but still want some sort of bundled minutes and texts, some only have a 1 month rolling contract.
