Tomb Raider Gets The HD Remake Treatment On PS3 – Xbox Gamers Miss Out On Lara’s Facelift!

January 10, 2011

tomb-raider-trilogy-collection-ps3-coverTomb Raider is the next game franchise to get the HD upgrade. Square Enix has announced that Tomb Raider Legend and Anniversary will be getting remastered in HD with the third game of the pack being Tomb Raider Underworld, which doesn’t need the HD upgrade as it was released on next gen consoles..

The trilogy pack will be released in the UK on the 25th March this year with the US getting it 3 days before us. Also Xbox 360 users will miss out as this is a PS3 exclusive as with the other HD upgrades like God of War and Sly Cooper. There’ll be some small extras added into the pack with a Tomb Raider theme, a few making of trailers and a couple of Home avatar outfits.

Nintendo 3DS Launch Line Up Announced – Will You Get This New Handheld Console On Release?

January 10, 2011

nintendo_3dsIt’s not long now until Nintendo’s 3DS is released and the launch line up has been announced. Well, it’s Japan’s launch list so I imagine ours might have a few changes before it’s March release date.

The 3DS will be released in Japan in February and will allow players to experience 3D games without having to wear 3D glasses. This is a great sign, as it surely means that it won’t be long before 3DTV’s without the need for the glasses start to appear either.

Sega Toylet – New Games Console…For Urinals

January 9, 2011

sega-urinal-games-toylet-screenI had to read through this a few times before it sunk in what I was actually reading. But it seems as though Sega has made a very odd ‘console’, no it’s not like their old Sega Megadrive console, it’s actually for Japanese urinals and it’s called a “Toylet”.

Only in Japan…well, Tokyo to be precise.

The console works using pressure sensors and you can even select mini games from the LCD situated above each urinal. How many people wash their hands before using them I wonder.

Nintendo 3DS Battery Only Allows 3-8 Hours Gaming Per Charge? – Don’t Leave Home Without Your Charger!

January 8, 2011

Nintendo_3DSWhilst the Nintendo 3DS has received a lot of publicity for all the right reasons being the first handheld games console to provide glasses-free 3D, no less. However, this isn’t quite in the same bracket as the rest when it comes to the battery life, which will last a purported 8 hours, maximum.

The key word there is maximum, as we know that battery life always differs from the manufacturers claims in real terms, so what exactly can we expect? Well, with a new 3D game in there it could last between 3 and 5 hours. Meagre, to say the least, but with an old DS title going you can get up to 8. That’s shocking, and when compared to the old DS endurance it’s down right miserable.

The Sly Collection Trilogy Review (PS3)

January 3, 2011

sly-collection-ps3-coverIt’s good to see another PS2 collection converted over to HD after the succes of the God of War Collection and now we have Sly Cooper and his gang the latest to get the makeover.

I did play the originals back on the PS2 and quite enjoyed them, but playing it again the second time around in the form of the Sly Collection (Trilogy) seems to have made them slightly better.

Sly Cooper is a master thief and is joined by his best friends Bentley who is a genius and Murray who is the brawns of the group. There’s also Sly’s love interest Carmelita Fox who is a cop and always chasing Sly down and trying to arrest him, but of course it’s just a flirtacious encounter between the two throughout with the majority coming from Sly. It’s a love hate relationship it seems.

My Best Games Of 2010! What Are Your Favourite Games You’ve Played This Year?

December 16, 2010

jak-and-daxter-game-cover-artAs it’s the end of the year, we’ve been asked “What is the best game you’ve played this year?” It’s an interesting question is this one. 2010 has been a pretty good year for gamers with 2011 looking even better with the likes of Uncharted 3 and Mass Effect 3 recently announced.

So my first thought was should my best game of the year be something that’s new and something that I’ve only played once, or a game that’s a few years old that keeps me coming back for more? Obviously one of the games that I’ve only played once this could be a game I play over and over again over the years.

I’ve made myself a shortlist of my candidates and will try to decide on one by the time I get to the end of writing this post.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Trailer & Release Date Confirmed

December 12, 2010

uncharted_3_coverIt’s been a pretty big week for the games industry with some big AAA titles due for release next year with one of them being Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. We’ll all be able to join Drake on his next quest from the release date of 1st November 2011 which is less than a year away! Excited? You should be!

I can’t wait to see what Naughty Dog has in store for us, and the fact that they’ve said that both the campaign and multiplayer have both “evolved” since Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, it’s pretty exciting as to what we’ll be seeing and playing next year.

“4.ohmy.3″ – World of Warcraft 4.0.3a “The Shattering” Content Patch Update Review

December 11, 2010

world-of-warcraft-cataclysm-logoWhen the World of Warcraft patch 4.0.3a came out, players got a sweet taste of what’s to come in the WoW: Cataclysm expansion. Here’s a small taste of what’s going on.

To start off, the landscape has been completely redone and the graphics have received a major overhaul. Although patch 4.0.1 started this trend with more realistic water and fire, patch 4.0.3a added the cherry on top. The first glimpse of this comes in the form of the revamped log on screen where an angry Deathwing (I’m not sure if he’s ever happy) roars and glares at players from atop Stormwind.

December 11, 2010

atari-keychainIn the world of computer gaming, Atari is a huge name. Founded in the 70′s, it brought us the Atari 2600, Pong and other arcade goodies that everyone loves.

It’s no surprise, therefore, that you can now grab those beloved memories all in a little Atari Console Keyring that houses your keys in style!

I’m not just speaking about looks either; admittedly, these would be awesome as a standalone keychain, but the creators decided to go one step further and allow you to PLAY classic games straight from the keychain.

‘Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’ Announced (Teaser Trailer)

December 9, 2010

uncharted_3_coverI reported the other day that Naughty Dog were going to be making an announcement on the 12th December about their next game at the Spike Video Game Awards. Well Christmas has come early.

Well it’s official, it’s the new Uncharted game which will be titled ‘Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’. Most people knew this was going to be the game that would be announced by Naughty Dog, although a lot of people, myself including, were holding onto the wishful thought of a new Jak and Daxter. Even though we have to wait a little longer for a new Jak and Daxter title, I’m ecstatic about Nathan Drake’s next adventure.

New Sony Bravia HDTV With Built-In PS2 Released

December 4, 2010

sony_bravia_ps2Sony have recently launched a brand new Bravia HDTV with an in-built Playstation 2. As good as this sounds, the TV isn’t exactly pleasing to the eye.

TV’s these days are becoming slimmer but this looks a bit bulky and probably would have been better had the in-built PS2 be attached to the back. But instead, the PS2 act as the feet of the TV. It’s only a 22 inch Bravia TV so the PS2 will be quite noticeable, plus I don’t think it’d be a good idea to slap a 40+ inch Bravia HDTV on top of a console, no doubt that wouldn’t go well with Sony’s Monolithic Bravia TV design concept.

Naughty Dog Announcement Incoming! Uncharted 3 or Jak and Daxter?

December 4, 2010

naughty-dog-logoNaughty Dog are set to make an announcement on December 12th at this years Spike VGA awards about what their next game is going to be.

The general feeling is that it’s going to be Uncharted 3 and will possibly take place within the desert somewhere around the world. Not too long ago Naughty Dog came out and said that their next title will be influenced by Ico which was a massive hit on the PS2 and is set for the HD upgrade along with Shadows of the Colossus next year on the PS3.

Let’s just hope Uncharted 3 will be nothing like the disaster the Uncharted movie is turning into.

Uncharted Movie Casts Mark Wahlberg As Nathan Drake – Why Not Nathan Fillion?

November 27, 2010

uncharted_imageWe reported not so long ago that an Uncharted film was being made based on the massively popular series developed by Naughty Dog. When I first read the news, I was really excited and thought that Uncharted could be the film to break the barrier of the whole, movies about games are crap, conundrum.

Well no longer. It’s been announced that Mark Wahlberg will be playing the part of Nathan Drake with the possibility of Robert De Niro playing his father and Joe Pesci as his uncle…..are you friggin’ kidding me?!

Football Manager 2011 Review (PC/Mac)

November 25, 2010

football-manager-2011-coverYes, readers, it is indeed that time of year again! Football Manager 2011 was recently released, and after becoming completely addicted for what will probably be the better part of the next few months, I’ve decided it’s about time I just got the Football Manager 2011 review written up and get on with my game as soon as I can. So here goes…

The transition to Football Manager 2010 from 2009 took quite a bit of getting used to. We saw an overhauled user interface which was received with mixed reception, although after over 200 hours of gameplay, I got used to it in the end.

We were promised a number of improvements for FM 2011, but not much mention was given of the interface this time around. This is because the user interface remains mainly the same, with not many changes on that front. There is, however, a slightly revamped theme as default which I really dislike. There is a dark skin on its way though, so no need for panic there.

WoW, Why is the Ground Shaking? – What To Do Until The Cataclysm Arrives! (Preview)

November 25, 2010

world-of-warcraft-cataclysm-coverWe’re all waiting for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. People who are playing are waiting. People who are thinking about playing again are waiting. People who have no interest in WoW are waiting for those who are interested to quit talking about the expansion and are thus waiting for the expansion as well.

The question is: what do we all do while waiting for Cataclysm to change WoW as we know it? Fortunately, there are plenty of things to do while waiting for everyone.

Those waiting to renew their account or start playing for the first time have a lot to do. Start thinking about what kind of character you’re going to roll. Faction and race are entirely up to you, but I do have a few suggestions for classes.

If you’re playing by yourself snag a hunter or warlock, they both have pets and with the recent changes to the class spells and the talent trees those pets are more than capable of keeping you on your feet long enough to figure out what you want to do with your character.
