Call of Duty 7 Rumours?

call-of-duty-logoThere always seems to be some news on a Call of Duty game these days, what with two companies, Activision and Treyarch, developing the games so they can release one each year. With Activision currently working on Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2 (release date – Nov 2009), there’s no doubt Treyarch will be back with Call of Duty 7 in 2010.

The latest on the grapevine is about where the next Call of Duty game (after Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2) is going to be set in terms of combat arena.

Going by recent reports, Call of Duty has finished with World War II, with Treyarch “glad to end World War II in World at War.”

Some will see this as a relief and will be good to see Call of Duty 7 go in a different direction, and by the success of the first ‘Modern Warfare’ title you can see why. Personally, I’ll miss the WWII shooters, but I do think it is time for a change.

This add further fuel to the fire of this rumour, Activision is apparently licensing music from the Vietnam War era along with other music themes, including Cuban, Soviet Union and African tunes.

I think doing the Vietnam war might be a little too similar to the Japanese missions in World at War, but would be good if they did it in the style of Apocalypse Now with a bit of Jimi Hendrix in the background. Maybe even a Cold War themed version of Call of Duty would go down well.

What are your views on these rumours? Would you like to see something a little different for Call of Duty 7 – the 7th version of the incredibly popular War shooter?

I have always wanted them to make a Call of Duty: Vietnam. Theres not many high quality games based on that war, look and Shellshock and Conflict Vietnam, to be honest they were not that good. But when you have a developer like teryarch and the name of call of duty behind it i think it reasures you that the game will be a good one. If they can capture the brutality of the pacific campaign like they did in World at War then i think they can defiantly do a really good job on vietnam. I wouldn’t want anyone else to make this game, I can wait

How could they make a call of duty game based on the cold war? it didnt even happen! The cold war was a load of what ifs and cuba playing silly buggers. There wasnt actually any conflict so think the game would be rather boring.
As for making a vietnam version, would you really be able to tell a difference apart from you could call in a napalm strike instead of the dogs. Hardly worth the effort in my opinion.

I totally agree about the cold war and Cuba. Nothing happened so it would be boring but I still think Vietnam would be a really good road to take. The fact is there would be a lot of differences weapons, music, perks, and maps would actually be a lot different they would be much more jungle based, and yeah you would be able to use dogs, the napalm would come later like as an air strike. But you can’t slam a year before it’s even come out. Think about the first Modern Warfare. Every one was acting like cocks saying its going to be crap because its not in world war II, and look its probably the best Call of Duty out there. We just have to wait for the game to come out because I think its going to be good.

I’d love to see a game solely based on Nazi Zombies, with a proper story, more objectives and more zombie head popping :P

hmmmm i have been hearing rumours of CoD 7 being like humans vs. alien terrorists but personally i think this a load of bull. However I think Treyarch could make a whole nazi/imperial/red army/marine or even an alkeida zombie game but only if the zombies had AI so they got used to how you play and then tried to outsmart you. also i think it would be awesome if they made a CoD game where you command entire armies and when things get desperate go into battle yourself this would be a gr8 game if you’re bored of being in a small squad.
and does someone have to die in EVERY game i mean jeez Treyarch! lighten up YOU’RE MAKING EMO’S HERE!

I dont like the weapons on cod4 :/ didnt like the maps on cod4 either, but on cod5 it was awesome, loved both :] i think they Activision should do cod MW and treyarch or whoever they are should do ww1 + ww2 :]

I love the modern warfare games better than the WWII ones. I like the fact that this stuff could actually be going on(to an extent) and it gives you a real feeling of being there. I find the WWII games tacky and boring but i like new technology and gadgets.

The storyline of the modern warfare games is awesome too (Would love to find what happened to Soap!!).

If they take the road of aliens, theres a big change they could ruin it and just make it ‘another alien shoot’em’up’.

i think a ww1 game would be a great idea with todays graphics and game engines just imagine ground war on a 1916 battlefield with 50 player online ruthlessy bayonetting people and rushing to put on a gas mask from a mustard gas 5 kill streak award i mean how awsome would tht be

the way the call of duty mw 2 storyline ends hints that soap n captain price have alot more to deal with , i think a modern warfare 3 is a certainty in a year or 2 , and tbh , i cant wait if it gets announced , modern warfare 2 is the best game ever made , well done activision & infinty ward !

i think it should be about the same sort of thing but you are Soap throughout one long mission and whatever you do, it changes the end result. e.g if you kill a terrorist leader somehow then you live happily but if you leave him then you can die with price
