Call of Duty 6 Release Date in 2009Written by Christian Milsom on February 4, 2009 · Filed under Games
Could we be seeing the Call of Duty 6 release date happen by the end of 2009?
More often than not we get information about new releases from leaks – mostly coming from the studios themselves or from ‘close sources’ – and they give us an insight into what is happening behind the veil of secrecy. However the most recent example of this comes from a certain Ken Lally and it has put him in a bit of trouble.
In an interview on thesteam.tv he started talking about doing voiceovers, and let slip that not only was he involved in doing the voiceovers for Call Of Duty 6 (a.k.a. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2) but he also said that he has done it, suggesting that COD6 is fairly far into development.
This has been a bit of a blow for Activision who, since they let slip that there was going to be a COD6 in an earnings call for investors last year, have been branding suggestions of a sequel as “speculative”. Activision have not yet made an official statement, but Lally appears to be in “hot water” after letting this slip.
Ken Lally himself has worked on some pretty high profile games, such as Resident Evil 5 and Devil May Cry 4, and although last year indications were that Call of Duty 6 would be released in 2009, this adds a greater degree of certainty.
I’d personally be putting my money on November 15th 2009 as the release date to fall in line with the previous Call of Duty: World at War (COD5) released November 11th 2008 and Call of Duty: Modern Warefare (COD4) released November 7th 2007, but we will have to wait to see what Activision say before we can be certain.
UPDATE: The Call of Duty 6 teaser trailer has now confirmed the release date as being 10th November 2009.
