BBC Games Based On Doctor Who & Top Gear TV Shows?

The BBC are now going to try their hands in the games industry once again for some of their hit TV shows. The games that are privileged to be getting a gaming overhaul are Doctor Who, Top Gear and……….In the Night Garden amongst others.

Out of that list I can only see one game that would actually work if done correctly and that’s Doctor Who. But don’t expect to see high-def versions of these games as they will be released on iPhone, Facebook, Wii and DS.

As much as I love Top Gear I just can’t see it working as a game (perhaps you get to be Michael Schumacher as the Stig as you drive around the Top Gear test track racing cars!) and as far In the Night Garden, it just again goes with what I have previously said about the Nintendo Wii (drying up) with its gimmicky games. Just by reading what platforms they’re to be released on has me thinking these are nothing more the cheap, crap money grabbing games.

The only one that gets my attention in Doctor Who. Why? Well, we all know that Doctor Who is cheesy, but it’s brilliant. David Tennant was the best Doctor ever and he has made the show what it is today in this generation. There have been some quite thoughtful and emotional episodes in the past seasons with some amazing Sci-Fi moments on other planets and here on Earth.

So why not go all out and make something special for Doctor Who and aspire to making an A-List game title and for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC? Why not a Doctor Who RPG where you have to travel the universe and time itself to stop the Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarin or whoever you fancy, taking over the world or destroying something?

It could be made into a really great game if given to the right developers. But of course this isn’t going to happen. Cheap crap, with appalling storyline and no point to the game apart from people to waste their money on. Surely the majority of the Doctor Who fans will want a proper Doctor Who game?

What are your views on my take of this news? Do you think I’m being too harsh? Do you like the gimmicky games that are a stain on the gaming world? Let us know in the comments below.

I think Doctor Who and Top Gear games should be on PS3, PC and Xbox not Wii or DS. I mean come on. People want to play as a timelord defeat daleks and cybermen by destroy it with hd graphics. Not on nintendo products. They are ok but I find big hits should be on multiplue platforms. Same fo Top Gear Because gamers who love driving games (e.g. Gran Turismo and F1) want them to be on PS3. But in the night garden….FOR BABIES SO THAT’S ALRIGHT ON DS AND WII

And as for a second comment I think you should run around playing as the doctor and if you bump into enemies and that you get to destory them with a gun (I know you might complain about the doctor using guns but he did for TEOT), Or a sonic screwdriver and that. It should be what has happened in the revived series otherwise we would be on forever trying to do every single episode. So if the BBC wants to be total dickheads then they may as well put Doctor Who on nintendo products. Plus for Top Gear, Should be like Gran Turismo. Complete Goals (Narrated by Hammond, Clarkson and May) and you get to do the responsibly priced car time trail online mode(If it does go on big conseles which i dobut :(). So the BBC Should not be straight asses and be professionals by hitting the games on PS3, Xbox and PC. Wait I forgot to mention in the night garden…..Wait we don’t give 2 fucks about that worthless show so that may as well go on an NES because it sucks balls hehehe. But I wish the BBC played PS3′s and Xbox’s so they know how good TG and DW could be
